SOLD .608 Progressive Twist kibler colonial

You’d have to ask Bobby. I’m thinking a .600 ball with .018 patch, but I’m gonna try .595 and .600 with varying patch thicknesses.

Kibler - New Product Available Tomorrow

Wow that’s beautiful… You are a very talented man. I’m torturing myself by picturing a dickert rifle with full cnc relief carving and a brass patchbox with cnc engraving… maybe in the future, maybe not. either way I love the direction you’re taking it, and once the simple relief carving version...

    .54 charge workup

Answer one I had read everywhere that coning does not effect accuracy, after trying it, I am doubting that opinion, and want to see for myself. Answer two I’ll consider it enough proof for myself personally if there’s a noticeable difference. Whether you do or not doesn’t really make a big...

    .54 charge workup

Maybe so. I don’t want to trash anyone who believes in coning, or anything like that. It just doesn’t make sense to me that it couldn’t possibly effect accuracy… maybe I’ll do a test with each barrel once I get the new one and post results. Like I said, I could be totally wrong, just want to...

    .54 charge workup

I can’t say it did for sure, Im just guessing. I love the accuracy with 55 grains but Im worried it isn’t quite enough power for elk hunting or longer shots on deer/black bear. I could be wrong though.

    .54 charge workup

suppose I should have stated that checked the patches yesterday when I went back to the range, no tear through, also tried various charges, and patch/ball combos again but still have the same result as last time. I just want to see if there’s a difference in accuracy with a barrel that hasn’t...

    .54 charge workup

Yeah, I want to get more power for longer shots. Worth a try, I think.

    .54 charge workup

Thanks for the help, I think the problem could possibly be that I coned the muzzle. I thought I’d give it a try, but for me it seems to have been detrimental to the accuracy. I can’t say that for sure because I coned it upon completing the rifle, but I don’t think I’ll ever try it again. Time to...

For the range I use my own concoction. Just Murphy’s oil soap with a bit of windex and ammonia mixed to almost a spit like consistency. Keeps the fouling soft and easy to swab between shots. For hunting I use tracks mink oil.

    .54 charge workup

Yeah I tried every load in 5 grain increments from 55 to 100 but the 60 grain group was 3 inches at best and all other groups were 5 inches or more at 50 yards, that would be unacceptable for good shot placement. maybe I’ll try going over 100 grains and see what happens. It’s a 1-70 twist barrel...

    .54 charge workup

I have a .54 woodsrunner that I just finished up recently, and decided yesterday would be the day I’d take it to the range to work up a good accurate charge and sight in, I was able to get cloverleafs at 50 yards after trying many different powder charges and ball patch combos. I found the most...

Where to get balls and flint for a .75 Brown Bess

Get a few bag molds from Larry Callahan and cast your own, can’t go any cheaper than that! The mold I got from him is the only one I’ve ever had that makes a perfect roundball every time. As for flints, they are pricey unfortunately and unless you knap your own it’s the going rate.
