    Underlug hole elongation...

SDSmlf has it exactly correct, many moons ago (Indian lingo) I lived in a house with no air conditioning and the hot humid summers would cause wood to swell over a few months, doors would stick etc. when winter hit the furnace would remove all the humidity, after a few months the wood would...

    Kibler Rear Sight

I have old eyes, I started with the standard height rear sight on a woodsrunner but after getting the rifle sighted in the front sight was so short that, while it worked, I wanted it taller. Obviously, I needed to replace both so that is what I did.

    Underlug hole elongation...

Another reason to slot them is they can rust in place if the pin is tight in the hole. I rescued a basket case Dixie TMR that the rear and middle pins were rusted in place, I managed to get the rear pin out finally with a punch, the middle pin I had to cut out from the ramrod grove with a Dremel.

    Flintlock flinching

All the above works especially the wood flint and dry fire, dry fire, dry fire. One of the best ways (I have posted this before) is to have a group of friends watch you shoot, when you have a klatch and they hoot and holler making fun of your flinch you will stop it.

    Just another horn

Just a couple of curiosity questions, does the staple protrude into the powder spout/opening? How does it hang? In the picture it appears the rear lobe for the strap should have been in a different location?

    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

A very extensive study of cartridge effectiveness was conducted by Massad Ayoob, Evan Marshall and Ed Sanow several years ago called Defensive Handgun Loads (or similar). They studied police encounters, FBI etc. I am sure you can find a link to it on the internet, they found that hands down the...

    Vent hole plug?

Try bamboo toothpicks instead of the store bought cheapies, you can get them at culinary stores or off Amazon, they are fibrous and do not break like the cheap ones. Bonus is they work great in the kitchen for wrapping bacon on stuff and other uses. Small feathers work well but tend to get...

    Crowning Accuracy

What's the difference in an 11 degree crown and a 11 degree chamfer
  17. F

    Crowning Accuracy

So..... What is the difference between a chamfer and a crown?
  18. F

    Crowning Accuracy

The crown is simply the raised area on the barrel's muzzle that allows a slight recess at the bore. Crowning is done to protect the bore edge from dents and burrs should the muzzle strike against or be struck by a hard object. Rifling must be absolutely true at the end of the barrel for maximum...

    Crowning Accuracy

Ruling out false muzzles and those dreaded suppository guns. By definition if a muzzle is not crowned is it not perfectly flat? If the muzzle is perfectly flat do you not have sharp edges at every perfectly 90 degree land and groove? Will this not cut the patches when loading? (Next comes...

    Crowning Accuracy

Still no pictures, without seeing what the muzzle actually looks like everyone is just guessing.
