NAA percussion fun *update with Remington #11 caps!

Probably not that much difference in price… May even be more expensive. But I can post useless threads and videos about the percussion models here so it must be worth it! And it is fun!

NAA percussion fun *update with Remington #11 caps!

Yes, each shot is loaded with .3cc. A pound of powder will last a long time.

NAA percussion fun *update with Remington #11 caps!

Me too. They are what are recommended. The reason they work better is mostly because they are shorter than the CCI which I struggled to get seated far enough down to not bind and to fire on the first strike.

My projectile was a #4 buck round ball!

NAA percussion fun *update with Remington #11 caps!

This is a fun gun. The last time I shot it using CCI #10 caps it worked, but not well. This outing, using Remington #11 I had no failures. I wish I had about 5 cylinders and someone willing to load the for me as I could shoot this all afternoon. I guess I still could, but more than half of the...

Making a hunting sword from a machete

I applaud your work and will check out your other videos! On the path of learning don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good! While it is true that a forged sword might have distal taper, many a bladesmith starts the journey by modifying existing blades like this. Such may well serve...

    Woods-runner lock alignment

Here is mine. It is easy to align the flint to strike the frizzen squarely so it is no worry to me,

    Woods-runner lock alignment

Mine is a little off of perceived center, This doesn’t impact performance in my case.

Anyone else chomping at the bit for the Kibler smoothbore?

Get the 20 gauge, it will have a thicker barrel than the 16 gauge as Jim has said both will be the same outside diameter.

NAA percussion pistol, the full cap and ball experience in a small package!

Chainfires Can be “exciting”. I had on in a ‘51 navy in a cowboy match once. It hit the end of the wedge on the fight side and then hit a pistol target so I didn’t get called for a miss! A good lube over the ball can help but on a hot day and a few shots the lube can melt away if it isn’t...

NAA percussion pistol, the full cap and ball experience in a small package!

I found the same thing which is another reason to use 3f! I will try the CCI 11’s if I find some. Thanks for the tip!

NAA percussion pistol, the full cap and ball experience in a small package!

This is the Super Companion model. I think some of the failure to set off the cap is because the CCI caps are a smaller diameter than the Remington. I tried splitting the skirt of the caps and this helped some. Magnum caps, with more priming compound might also help.

NAA percussion pistol, the full cap and ball experience in a small package!

I have shot a lot of percussion pistols, I owned 6 at one time and used all 6 to shoot a “Josey Wales” category at an all black powder Cowboy shoot a few times. This video is my time shooting this little gun. From a few caps not firing with the first strike to a cap jam and the grin on my...

Iron Nitrate assistance - Woodsrunner Kit

That looks like the first coat I did on mine. I did another two applications and heat cycles and my Woodsrunner came out a bit too dark. Try the alcohol tip and if you want darker do another application.

Pecatonica NW Trade Gun Build Help

I am not the expert but I can share what I have learned so far working with a Petaconica build. 1. Check the ramrod hole, make sure it is centered and drilled full depth. You will need to sand the ramrod to a smaller diameter to fit. 2. Finish inletting the barrel and tang. 3. Finish inletting...
