How to take off trigger guard of a Pedersoli Jäger

Hi I bought a Pedersoli Jäger from an auction site, but it has a different trigger guard than it should usually have. My question is, how exactly do I take the trigger guard off without damaging anything? Thanks for the help!

Some information for those interested in buying the 1859 Sharps (Be it from Chiappa or Pedersoli)

I once again advocate against using brass tubes for the mentioned reasons.

Some information for those interested in buying the 1859 Sharps (Be it from Chiappa or Pedersoli)

Many months ago I asked Chiappa if they would ever change the breech block back to the proper design. I finally got an answer. They said they will never change it back.

    Mississippi Rifle. Some questions

Apologies. Didn't see the quotation marks in the previous message. I do agree. The M1841 just looks so gorgeous.

If you can ever find a Shiloh or a Garret/Palmetto Berdan Sharps, do not hesitate. It will be worth it.

    Mississippi Rifle. Some questions

As far as I remember the later versions of the Missi had different sights and a different ramrod. So appearance wise it is always gonna be the early version. I do however prefer the .58 just because I like minie bullets so much. This is true, but I just love shooting minie bullets. I don't...

    Mississippi Rifle. Some questions

Hi. Since I am still thinking about getting a Mississippi rifle, I have some questions. Currently Pedersoli offers this rifle in .54 and .58, with .54 being the PRB rifling. I have however seen pictures of civil war cartridge packages with .54 minie bullets for the Mississippi rifle (and the...

It is supposed to aid the gas seal. The gasses push it against the breech plate while the breech plate gets pushed against the moving sleeve.

Because you get a flame out of the brass tube's ignition hole concentrating directly onto your flash cone, which burns it out faster and on some models is a real piece of work to remove. Works perfectly fine. I have never had any embers or paper residue.

This is true for those located in the U.S. . We Europeans sadly gotta eat flies. What I would give to have one of these in Europe. And even then: You shouldn't have to pay more money on top of what you spend on the gun just to get it shooting in my opinion. A new Pedersoli alone will cost you...

At the moment, if you want to buy any percussion breech loading carbines, go with everything but the Sharps (except if it is from Shiloh). Not much choice if you want a percussion breech loading full length rifle.

I still think shooting the Sharps is one of the most enjoyable things out there. It's just such a cool rifle with such cool history. It is a shame that the repros are the way they are now. Sadly, nothing we can do. As I said: Pedersoli and Chiappa will probably never go back. Brass tubes...

Just wanted to make this post for those interested in buying and shooting the 1859 Sharps from Chiappa or Pedersoli to prevent them from making a possible purchase they regret. They have changed the breech block to be better suited for the brass loading tubes. Shooting paper cartridges with...

    Bernadelli Mississippi Rifle in .58

So the weld is safe? Would rather not have parts flying at my shooting neighbour. What did you have to change to get it shooting?

    Bernadelli Mississippi Rifle in .58

I was offered a Mississippi rifle from Bernadelli in .58. I have heard that the bolsters blew off on earlier ones. This one has a "W" and "Silesia" stamped on it. Are they any good? What would be a good price?

    Chiappa 1859 Sharps

It's not a cavalry Sharps. It's one of those Berdan ones. Is there a way to determine this on one of those? Sadly. And we don't have a european Charlie Hahn to fix it.

    Chiappa 1859 Sharps

Timestamped for your viewing pleasure. Same thing Pedersoli did so that the brass tube folks are happy. Ruins the entire design of the plate and I doubt they will ever return to their old ways. With this, there is really nobody anymore that makes the accurate plates. Which means that once your...

    Chiappa 1859 Sharps

Update: Have seen a video of a guy who bought himself a new Chiappa Sharps. It seems like Chiappa has now also decided to ruin their breech plates so that people can use brass tubes. Very sad to see but nothing one can do.

    Sharps carbine loading question

Generally, people around here still get advised to use them for the Sharps since they are apparently stronger. Do you think that it doesn't really matter and that the 4 winged will be powerful enough to carry the spark through the channel?

    Sharps carbine loading question

It's the 6-winged RWS caps. I'm not from the US so I don't know where to get them there. You can buy it here at any store that sells muzzleloading supplies.
