spit , rubbing alcohol , even just water would work most commonly I use speed juice or moose milk speed juice = 1/3 rubbing alcohol , 1/3 hydrogen peroxide, 1/3 murphy's oil soap mix and store in a spray bottle , out of the light or using a dark color bottle like the little spray bottles...

    1lb =7,000. Or does it?

it has got to be rather close I typically buy in 25 pound sacks Schutzen 3Fg when measured by volume in my measures comes out within about 2 gr of what I set . when weighed on the scale I have a couple of fixed 30gr measures that always seem to make 27gr I just know that they are always that...

Leading is primarily a fuction of poor fit. In a muzzle loader they go down slow before thet go up fast so fit is already perfect.

177 ish depends on the ball and the lead they vary by a few grains 70-75 gr of black is probably a good place to start with the conical work up find accuracy after using a copper and rust cleaning product just wash with hot water and soap like after every time you shoot it and re-lube

I know it was wrong, but....

pfffff , the tax man will take an extension your gun dealer won't. but if you had a rainy day fund put away you can get lots more deals with cash on hand , savings is good stuff.

absolutely this was a problem we saw and resolved by storing muzzle down before I ever even heard of it on a forum. I also run a lightly moisten patch be it spit , speed juice or moose milk speed juice is 1/3 rubbing alcohol , 1/3 hydrogen peroxide and 1/3 murphy's oil soap moose milk is 1:10...

no they did not discontinue the R.E.A.L they are making them possibly in even greater quantity than past years , but it is 2021 and demand is insane for anything gun including molds. the president of Lee reloading did a video recently they have hired on more staff and are working overtime and...

    Nipples plugging

after the shot , pull the hammer to halfcock , make sure the cap is clear of the nipple and hammer cup . then listen for the hiss while you run the patch , if you hear a good hiss from the air coming out the nipple when you run a moisten patch between shots. then you should be able to get fire...

    Nipples plugging

I pour through with near boiling water and let it run out the nipple hole or flash channel then stand them up muzzle down after lubing the bore. very similar same effect also use 3Fg for everything

    Nipples plugging

if you keep cleaning and oiling and letting that oil run into the flash channel it will just be a new and different ignition issue
  13. T

    Nipples plugging

clean it very well , make sure that flash channel is clean and clear lube with an all natural lube like ox yoke or bore butter now , put a sock over the muzzle and store it muzzle down even bore butter and oxyoke creep when they creep down into a Patten breech you get good ignition a...

that might be a candidate for evapo-rust . penetrating oil doesn't really break up rust it can free parts but you need to get that rust out then you can smooth out the metal with something like a flitz metal polish. I would flush it with hot water after the cleaning you gave it and get some...

    Lyman Deerstalker Ignition Woes

I would prefer they still made the 410gr flat nose , I am not positive but I think I was on to the 385 by the time I shot that deer. I keep that bullet in my tool box , here it is with a little size reference. I think it would have a lot to do with how fast our driving the great planes bullet...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

the threads are typically much larger on the brass sections than the 10/32 that holds the ball puller , I would expect that the smaller finer threads would give before the larger coarser threads. I use a one peice SS rod with a brass bore guide from track of the wolf the Creedmoor rod most any...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

yes , that would work but if you already have something like the all brass multi section rod with alumunum handle as may have or a creedmore range rod this is an alternative you may also have in a drawer at home. and not more kit to buy to be clear the purpose of a handle on a range rod is...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

if you can't pull well enough with your normal range rod , a little cordages around the handle then you can loop that over a tree limb or many other things to get good pull on the gun. a heavy boot lace with loop in each end slip the loop over the handle around the rod so that it tightens...
