    2023 Fall Squirrel Season...........

Thanks. Would you believe it, that is actually a plain maple stock. Kibler definitely undergrades his wood. I think that it was graded plain because the figure is not consistent through the whole stock.

32 Caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle

Yep, I’m with you on that. I took some bone black and mixed with an oil finish. It is quite a bit darker now, but still pretty light. As I use it it will pick up plenty of darkness. I’ll have to look at it again when I get home tonight.

    If only....

I’ve been wishing the same thing. I thought I found a loophole for Missouri, but when I read the actual statutes the hole did not exist. PA allows rifles, or at least did when I lived up there ten years ago.

Needs some advice on possibles bag

Yep. A guy at work just made me a flint pouch and won’t take more than 10 bucks. He’s pretty fast and a pouch is not that complicated, but it still had to have taken him 3 or four hours. I keep trying to convince him to take more. Guess I’ll give home some homegrown bacon an steaks.

Needs some advice on possibles bag

I made my first pouch from a crazy crow kit. The second bag I just picked up a cheap piece of leather and made my own. Took some time but cost me less than $10.

32 Caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle

Shot it again today. Was pretty happy with the 5 shot group. There are 6 shots total on this target. Also shot against dad at 100 yards off hand at 14” saw blades. Still used 15 grains of 3F. Ball dropped a little over a foot. Was able to make 4 out of 5 off hand hits.

    March 2023 Postal Target

Not very good. Rifle is pretty new and I have not adjusted sights yet. Also shot this after shooting for several hours and was getting tired. Enough of excuses. 😀 Score of 27. Edit: forgot to subtract other shots. Score of 20. Edit 2: after reviewing others rescored and came up with a score of 37.

    Which caliber for squirrel rifle

So I had the same quandary a while back and I opted for the .32 SMR. Here are the results. I’ve not shot it much but I am happy with it. It is primarily a squirrel/paper gun. I wanted a rifle that was very cheap to shoot. But like everyone else has said, it is really your preference.

32 Caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle

Thanks @hanshi. I planned to sight in at thirty yards. I guess we’ll see if I can reliably hit anything at that range.

32 Caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle

Well I am glad to hear that you’ve found it easy. This coming weekend I am going to shoot with Dad and hopefully try out several different load combinations. I think 15 will probably be my minimum load and I’ll try up to 30 or 35 grains. Have your bullseye loads been somewhere in that range? I...

32 Caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle

Hi Sean, The barrel is basically a 1” barrel. At the ends it is o.938” and in the middle it is 0.7”. I have not weighed the rifle, but it should be right at 7 lbs. Since the same barrel contour is used for all calibers, a 0.45 is in the 6 lb range. Due to the larger bore. It balances very...

32 Caliber Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle

So many people post their builds that I figured me posting mine would not add a lot of value, but here are the finished results. I like dark and plain rifles. So I ordered an SMR in 32 caliber. Finished the metal parts with Jax blackener. Stock finish is a layer of tannic acid then a layer of...
