Shooting Undersized Round balls into paper targets.....?? Accuracy?

Mark, Let me say first that I am a Black Powder Maniac Shooter fan. I wear a BPMS button on my hat and enjoy your videos because they’re fun and entertaining. It is not my place to critique your work, but if I may, I’d like to offer a suggestion which would have helped this latest video...

Actual Weights of Different Powders Measured by Volume

Gallon of lead vs gallon of feathers. Same volume, different weight. Pound of lead vs pound of feathers. Same weight, different volume.

    Bound to happen

Yeah, after taking it apart, removing the ball, cleaning everything thing up and putting it back together, I got to thinking maybe I could assemble a Kibler. I even learned how not to leave “beauty marks” and how to clean them up if I do. But first, I gotta go see if I can sharpen a pencil now.

    Bound to happen

This was not the usual dry ball. I did load powder first. But, I tried to take a shortcut and that’s where I messed up. I was loading powder, wad of tow, round ball and another wad of tow. This worked good as long as I seated the wad, ball and wad separately. But, big dummy got in a...

It’s a beauty mark made by an ape with two left thumbs. It filed out and all is good.

So, shoot long enough and often enough, you’ll eventually get a stuck ball. On the bright side, I learned to remove a barrel and breech plug from my rifle. May be ready for a Kibler now!😁

Making them is almost as much fun as shooting them. Almost.

    Brand new

You’re right. The CVA and Traditions flintlocks are almost in a different league. If I were to buy something like a CVA or Traditions flintlock, I would look for a used one that already had the bugs worked out by an experienced shooter. Unless you’re someone who likes to learn by tinkering...

    Brand new

I have no problems with guns like CVA and Traditions. While not the most expensive guns in my collection, they are certainly not the worst either.

    Help Knapping a flint

I was never able to sharpen a flint while it was still in the cock. I have to remove mine and place it on a hard surface using press flaking to sharpen it. But that’s just me.

Shooting Plastic Shotgun Wads in a smoothbore?

Interesting. I was expecting better results. In my .62 caliber smooth bore, I load 60 grains of 2f, a thick wad of jute tow or brown paper, about 65 grains of shot and topped off with jute tow or brown paper wad. I’ve taken a lot of squirrels with this load. Keep up the good work!

    Brass Tack Job

Nice! Can we see it next to a leather shooting bag, an old horn, a knife and maybe a ‘hawk to complete the look?
  15. U

Im going to do this thing

And leaving the stopper off the horn could happen no matter what you prime with.
