My contemporary interpretation of a Plains Native American style beaded knife sheath.

I wanted to try my hand at making a Plains Native American style beaded sheath. This is my second attempt as I messed up on my stitch holes for the first attempt. Thanks for looking!

Finished a little project/learning assignment this afternoon. Length of 11 1/4” around the curve and 10” tip to tip. Width of 1 3/4” in the base. Plug is persimmon finished with tinted linseed oil. Stopper is ash with a vent pick and was finished with tinted linseed oil. This is now my...

Finished Powder Horn for Master EOD Tech

I just wanted to share my latest project. It’s been a fun one with my mentor. I think he may actually make a Horner out of me one day. Thanks for looking.

    George Van Driessche Horn

I was fortunate enough to pick up this George Van Driessche powder horn from an estate sale. Thank you, Rifleman 1776 for identifying the maker. I’ve been able to research him and have really been intrigued by his work. I’m on the search for a companion or two for this horn.

    My Night Themed Rum Horn

I needed another scrimshaw project since I have been down with some back and leg issues and was losing my mind watching movies while confined in my chair. This rum horn is my seventeenth horn with sixteen of them being scrimshawed; it is my third rum horn. My mentor, Billy Griner, incorporated...

    Powder Horn Project Finished

I just finished this powder horn for a friend of mine who had to take a medical retirement; it was intended to be a campaign horn of his public service career. Billy Griner, my Horn Guild mentor, assisted and guided me in the construction of this horn. Daniel Lamping made the strap. I...

    Blunderbuss in Winterhawk?

I’m down with bronchitis, so I’m watching movies. In the movie Winterhawk (1975), there’s an interesting example of what appears to be a blunderbuss complete with tacks and a sling. Does anyone have any further information to satisfy my curiosity? Thank you!

Made Myself a New Hunting Bag

I’m learning to work leather, I think; this is my second bag. I know it’s not exactly historically accurate. It’ll be my hunting bag. All hand sewn with a woven strap by Daniel Lamping. The flap weight is an 1821 cent that already had the two holes in it. The button for the inner pocket is...

    Another Rum Horn

I just finished up another rum horn; this one is a Christmas gift to a friend and retired coworker who lost his wife this year. I’d like to hear your thoughts of the design and craftsmanship. “A Mule’s Ear of Rum” is a saying my friend used nearly every afternoon when we got off work. He says...

Another Powder Horn, a Special One

Mods, I apologize if this is inappropriate as it’s a modern spin on a traditional item, but I thought Forum members may be interested. I was asked to make a powder horn for a friend who was with the Army 52nd EOD. I took some artistic liberty on my traditional design and work. The end cap is...

Lock Identification and Flint Size Help

I recently purchased a .32 caliber flintlock rifle from a family member; we have no information on the rifle’s history. It came from a gun shop in Athens, Georgia. I’m cleaning it up today and will be posting more photos with a request for assistance in potentially identifying the builder, or...

    Finished Powder Horns

Two more finished; one was given away at the SE Regional BPCR Match in north Georgia this weekend. The other will be awarded at a BPCR Match in the future. Just thought I’d share.

    My First Rum Horn

I was hoping that I could get some feedback on my latest project. I tried to make it as if a farmer or hunter hand crafted it while sitting around the fire. The end plugs are carved pine with a sea turtle on one end and a box turtle on the other end. The plug is carved poplar, and is a box...

    Help in Identifying Flintlock Rifle

My Uncle just purchased this rifle today from a gun store; they had no information to provide on it and said that the owner knew nothing about it. He thinks it’s a .32 caliber and said there’s no markings visible. Thanks!

    New Shot Bag

So, I just finished a little shot bag for squirrel hunting. The spout and plug are hand carved from popular. Just wanted to share. I still have to flatten the stitches and wet mold the leather around the spout, but I like it.

Small Game Load for Pedersoli Classic .12

First squirrel killed with my Pedersoli Classic SxS .12. 75 grains of FFG and 1 1/8 ounce of a #7 and #8 lead shot mix. Worked well. What size shot do you prefer for small game?

    Help Identifying Flintlock Pistol

I’ve posted photos earlier, but I’m afraid that I posted in the wrong location (sorry). Flintlock pistol marked “Giacom Zambonetto” on top of the barrel and possibly “FLB” on bottom of barrel. Can anyone identify? Thanks!
