    Old longrifle identification

Just picked up this old rifle today and was hoping to get some opinions on possibly when and where it was made. It is a 40 cal smoothbore with a barrel measuring 40.5”. The percussion lock is marked Harvey & Son, and is the only marking I can find, the barrel appears to be unsigned. Quite a bit...

    Musket Identification

My father in law recently inherited this musket and I am trying to help him identify it. I do not have calipers here so I cannot measure the bore, but it is rifled. The only marks are the 3 proof marks on the octagonal breech, which look kinda British, but I am not sure. Any help would be...

    Browning Mountain Rifle Stock

The Browning Mountain Rifles have 2 distinct cheek rest shapes on their stocks. One is the beavertail shape and the other is a much more modern looking shape. I know the modern looking angular shape was used on the 1978 centennial models. Are the beaver tails on the earlier or later models? Thanks

    Unloading Muzzleloader

I am new to muzzleloaders and took my smoothbore flintlock hunting for the first time today. Since I will not be hunting for 2 weeks I decided to pull the ball and unload after doing some research. I did not fire the charge after hunting because I did not want to clean it and figured it would be...

    First Powder Horn

Since getting my first flintlock I have been making my own accessories and accoutrements. I just finished my powder horn which is a tribute to my 5th Great Grandfather who fought in the Revolutionary War. I used reclaimed wormy chestnut for the plug since it was an abundant native hardwood in...

    Cow’s Knee

Made myself a cow’s knee and took a different approach to securing it. Rather than tying the laces, I added 2 antler buttons and simply do a quick wrap around the button for easy off. I used some nice bison leather for the body.

    Powder Flask Identification

Was hoping for some insight whether this flask I have is real or a reproduction. I received it as part of a trade several years ago and never paid any attention to. I took a look today and it is marked G & J. W. Hawksley on the spout. I have not been able to find one like it online anywhere. I...
