    CVA Pennsylvania Flintlock

This one definitely needs some cleaning up, but still a nice gun. I was tempted to keep it at least for one deer season, but I can't keep everything I like. If it was $800 new in the 90's, that'd probably be $1500 today. So, does the $600 sound fair? Based on that, $600 sounds low to me...

    CVA Pennsylvania Flintlock

I'm in an antique co-op in Hanover, PA. I was planning on offering it there. I'm trying to avoid shipping. Being a flintlock, and apparently rare, I was hoping in the $600 range. But, I don't want to price it too high to sell, or give it away for half its value. I was hoping someone could...

    CVA Pennsylvania Flintlock

It appears to be rather rare. I can't find much info on it. Any idea of fair value in this condition?

I just picked it up. Here are a few more pics. I hope it helps.

    CVA Pennsylvania Flintlock

It was an online auction. I didn't take my own pics at preview, and I won't get the gun until Tuesday. So, that's all I have for now. I'm mostly interested in generalities for now.

    CVA Pennsylvania Flintlock

I just bought this at auction. I think I got a good price, but I couldn't find any recently sold to compare it to. Do you have any idea the value? IT's typical used condition with a few dings and scratches. Good bore. Working condition. Double trigger. Sorry, this is the only pic I have...

Help Identifying markings on 16 ga. Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun.

I've got some more info. The screw holding the locks is already damaged and tight. Since I'm a novice, my goal is to never do any more harm. So, I'm not going to force it. However, after removing the barrel, I found some useful info. Near the end of the barrel, under the ramrod is a serial...

Help Identifying markings on 16 ga. Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun.

Mystery solved, I was looking at it upside down. It appears it's "Laminated Steel". Now, any idea who or when it would have been marked this way?

Help Identifying markings on 16 ga. Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun.

I tried a couple more techniques to bring out the markings. Maybe this will help. Thanks.

Help Identifying markings on 16 ga. Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun.

Hi, I just picked up a nice older double barrel, but I'm having trouble making out the markings. Can anyone ID this? Thanks.

Thanks, it does look like the pictures I've been able to find.

It is rounded on the bottom the whole length. The top is half an octagon to just in front of the rear sight, then round the rest of the way.

    Percussion Barrel ID

This is what made me think it might be military.

Outside across the flat near the breech is about 1-1/16".

    Percussion Barrel ID

I tried chalk, but with the amount of rust, it mostly made the rust stand out.

Nice ring. About 55 caliber. It appears to be very slow rifling.

I got a few clearer pics.

    Percussion Barrel ID

I just picked up an old rusty percussion barrel, and I'm looking for some ID/age help. There are some markings, but nothing that helps me. There's a 4 over 20 and what looks like "MT" and a symbol (maybe bird?) on the underside. There's what I originally thought was a "P", but might be a horn...
