58 Colonial and The Bull Elk

Was it or was it not shot three times? That's all I said. The OP wrote: The 58 caliber hole from my first shot is now clearly visible right behind the shoulder. He doesn't say whether that was the entry wound or the exit and there is no mention of lungs or trajectory through the beast. And if...

I just use a stick I picked up while out for a walk. Am I doing it wrong?

Could a round ball about .001 inch less than bore diameter be used?

Depends what thickness patch you use. The two go hand in hand.

    Two piece stock

I would say that it is a perfect candidate for a repair with hot hide glue. Plane both surfaces dead flat and it should last for hundreds of years. And no glue line.

Question on making the holes in the barrel tenon's oblong?

You people really would argue about anything. And why does such a simple thing need 26 replies! The question was answered perfectly satisfactorily in answers 2 and 4. I don't think anything of any substance was added subsequently.

    Cheating In Matches

I have heard of an instance in a .22 50m match where a shooter's first four shots built up a single ragged hole in the centre of the 10 ring (not so unusual), see one of my cards in the attached pic. Then what if the shooter shot the fifth bullet into the sand instead of risking it outside the...

Precious metal prices are pretty much standard worldwide, are they not?

    platinum lined vents

About $45 at the moment. The exchange rate is currently very favourable to Americans. The cost is also dependant on the price of platinum.

    platinum lined vents

I just had one made for the bargain price of £40. An absolute necessity for shooting a .451 target rifle.

Or expect the alcohol in a bottle of whisky to float to the top.

I would call it not traditionally styled!

    .50 vs .54 accuracy

Around these parts official scoring dictates that more than half the hole must be in the higher scoring zone for it to count, so there is no advantage in a larger calibre.

Looking for a Decent Spotting Scope.

That’s exactly how I have my scope set up when shooting prone. The eyepiece is right next to my left eye. Why do you need the phone?

    Weighing (lead) balls

Last time I looked, 50x2=100. Is your life really so full of vital activity that every minute has to be accounted for?

Just kidding you. People often post targets here with no mention of the distance.

Beer mat. Do Americans understand that?
