    Value of Richland "MICHIGAN"

The one I looked at says Richland Firearms. Has Michigan on top of the barrell as well as 50 caliber. It is a kentucky style rifle but on a smaller scale than most I've seen. It does say it was made in Itally. Thanks for the info. I got the guy down to $150.00 but I think he may go lower.

    cost to finish new stock

HD, I know what you mean about doing it yourself. The folks there also stated that I woild have to do some additional inletting. What tools would a guy have to have to do this. How much additional sanding is involved? I just don't want to take on more than I can handle!

    cost to finish new stock

I am thinking about buying a full stock from Pectonica River Supply for my TC Hawken. I spoke with the folks there and they said to finish would be about 15 hours. As I work 17 hours a day I do not have the time nor the skill to do this. My question is, what can I expect to pay to have someone...

How to tell if it was a T/C kit?

Roundball, I have to disagree with ya on this one. I have TC Hawken kit rifle I put together back in the 70's and except for the finish of the stock and the K stamped on the barrell, I doubt anyone would no the differance. P.S. I don't disagree with anything you say very often! I always look...

    primitive powder measures

What did early mountain men use for powder measures? Other than antlers was there anything else that they may have used? Would some have used a brass type similar to what we have today? Given the fact that most came to the west from the east, I would think there was plenty of opportunity for...

    Early 1800's haversack or bag?

Thanks for all the replys. I was referring to the possibles bag for balls, patches, powder measures etc. I am of the opinion that they may have been made out of skins caught on the trapline. How available was leather to a mountain man whether it be deer, elk, or bison? Some of the reading I...

What about the patches drying out? How long do you keep these boards loaded? I bought one down at Freindship this year and loaded it up and I notice my patches seem to have dried out. I am using ox yoke prelubed patches.

    pouches lined or not

What thoughts do guys have about furred shooting bags? Are any of these period correct? I like the looks of them but do not think that a mountain man would of carried one. I would think that if it were raining or snowing they would get wet and therefore soaking you thru your clothes. I have...
