    What’s this vent liner?

Can anyone tell me what this is? I can’t for the life of me remember and want to order a couple of replacements. Thank you.

    Name this painting?

I've never been a very artsy person per se, but in Ken Hamilton's series on the French knives of North America he had a piece that really speaks to me. From memory it was called "The Swiss drinker" but a search for that online comes up with nothing. The scavenology site that had the articles is...

    Podcasts

I don't typically listen to podcasts, but given I'm in my vehicle a lot of hours a day working in agronomy I can. Does anyone know of any podcasts that focus on history relating to the frontier or traditional muzzleloading etc? Appreciate any suggestions.

    Early America Prints

I'm slowly, ever slowly working on my den and would like to have a few prints displayed around my powder horns and game heads. I want at least one or two of the napoleonic wars which aren't too hard to find, but I'd also like to get some from early American frontier. My area of interest is...

    Bag makers

Anyone got recommendations for bag makers? Thinking of getting either a belt bag or a double bag so I'm not swapping between calibre bits and bobs constantly. Thanks

    New Horn

My newest horn turned up today from the states, only took a little over a week. I personally like the restrained beauty of this one, there's no engravings or elaborate work to hide behind. Everything is just perfectly done by hand. It will be my main hunting horn from now on

    British hunter accessories?

How would an British hunter/gentleman of the late flintlock era have kitted himself out? Information on clothing would be good, but would he have used a powder horn or flask? Shooting bag or belt bag? Trying to establish not a persona but a practical and semi realistic kit for my in the works...

    Mold sizes

Struggling to understand this concept, can someone please clarify? If I want a .615 mold and run a 0.015 patch it's telling me I need a 0.600 mold which would not provide a great seal to my mind for a rifled bore. Then taking into account shrinkage it just seems like I would get a tight fit...

    Folding rear sight

I'm still debating on the calibre of my next flintlock rifle. I really like the idea of a 62, and for good knockdown power on large game it feels like the best bet. Have not ruled out a 58 either. Anyhow, one of the "downsides" I've read about for a 62 rifle is its pumpkin throwing trajectory...

    Examples of fusil fin?

I've heard of the fusil fin flintlocks but have not seen one. Anyone have examples of a fine french gun?

    Trophy hunters

No strictly a muzzleloading topic, but one that extends from the period of sharp stones, to black powder and into the modern age. I can't imagine that people of the 17-19th century in America were above appreciating the aesthetics of a good set of horns/antlers. An interesting article at any...

    Scratching that big itch

I'd love to do a kit myself, and maybe one day I will. But with 3 small kids it would be foolish and selfish of me to think I have the time to commit to that right now. As I figure it, I have 3 muzzleloaders I can sell that would get me around $5k aud give or take. If I were to buy a gun in the...

    Kibler - field observations?

I didn't want to hijack the previous kibler thread so decided to start my own. It's probably a moot conversation, to date I know Jim hasn't been willing to ship to Australia. We can get Chambers easily so I know it's possible to get kits here without too much hassle. I'd like to do a chambers...

    Build Time

I'm an idiot who never knows where and when to stop, fortunately for the time being I don't have the funds to buy anything for some time. It's really more a matter of wanting the challenge of making one myself that I'm after more than the rifle itself. I recently ordered a french made hunting...

    Redemption

Started heading out for another arvo hunt and realised a few minutes down the road that I'd forgotten my phone/camera. This just wouldn't do for my forum brethren if I qas on the money. Went home and grabbed it. Got to the property and the wind was atrocious. I thought well I've already come...

    Boucheron

When my boucheron arrived here I wasn't blown away, the tang wobbled in the handle and it was blunt enough I could literally run my thumb across the blade and not draw blood. But I got it peened in relatively tight and after redoing the edge its shaving sharp. Trust me on the last part, copped...

    Cleaning products

I've really come to like Ballistol for cleaning and Barricade for protecting my BP guns. Both are a pain to get at the moment and more than a little expensive. I'm less concerned on the cleaning as water will work in BP as many know. But what products are guys using for their storage oil? I do...

    Scrimshaw horn maintenance

G'day all, My hunting horn is by Rick Lorenzen and has some lovely scrimshaw. Only issue is that I'm noticing the scrimshaw artwork is rubbing off in the field and against my shooting bag. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? I thought about coating in a thin layer of wax but I don't...

    Source Of French Flints

Any recommendations for vest places to source french flints? In particular 3/4" and 7/8". It's getting ridiculous here, the cheapest I can find any flints is $10 per flint. Guy that sells them pretty much has a monopoly on it now.

    Carrying shot

How do people here carry shot when hunting? Shot snake, paper cartridge, something else?
