    CCI # 11 Percussion Caps

I’ll be darned. My wal mart had em at the same price today. They had about 10 tins on the rack. I didn’t grab them all but grabbed 4. They didn’t have a limit but That will get me through for a long time and leave a few for others who may stumble on them. Thanks for posting. I wouldn’t...

    New Crockett

The dry patches definitely leave more fowling. I settled on that method because it gave me the best consistent accuracy. That said, I keep playing with other combos hoping to find a lubed patch that works as well for me.

Messing with my squirrel load again

Here’s a “two shot group” I recently shot at 25 yards. Had to quit due to rain. Most of my groups at 25 start about like this but open up a bit as I put 5 shots down range. I don’t measure them but they’d be somewhere near .75 - 1 inch. These are from a good rest. (My fence). I’m still...

    Ordered my Kibler SMR!

I purchased mine in .32. I’m kinda into the .32 right now. Waffles between that and a .36 but went .32. Super excited.

    Ordered my Kibler SMR!

I’ve been lurking on the flint are for awhile. I have two percussion rifles but want to squirrel hunt with a .32 flinter. I’ve been staring at Kibler’s website for about 6 months and finally pulled the trigger! First flinter is on the way!!! Now the wait begins. Wish me luck with this...

Messing with my squirrel load again

Your short starter might be a little wider than some others as well. As others have suggested it might make sense to turn down the nub and the stem so ther aren’t quite so wide.

Messing with my squirrel load again

The short part of my short starter is very short. Barely puts the ball into the barrel. This, and a very sharp patch knife, will probably help you. Around the house I use a very sharp case pocket knife and I sharpen that knife almost daily. I carry it everywhere. A good sharp knife sure...

Messing with my squirrel load again

I live on acreage and we have lots of hardwoods. Unfortunately for me we haven’t had much of a mast crop the last few years. Had a freak late freeze last year. Most of the squirrels headed for greener pastures. This year is looking good so I imagine I’ll be able to pop a few around the...

    New Crockett

My Crockett had the same screw hole problem. I finally got mine in after having to enlarge the hole in the rib a little. Loc tite and it’s been fine since. It does take a while for the barrel to settle in. Make sure everything stays the same when shooting groups. Same lube, same amount...

    New Crockett

Mine was a kit that I put together. I didn’t have the problems others describe but did have a little trouble with the ram rod retaining “spring”’in the stock. Had to add a little material so the stew could get some purchase and now it’s fine. I’m still playing with loads but mine seems to...

Help with muzzleloader shops in Wv, NC, and SC

We plan to travel the parkway quite a bit while we are there. Quite a few historical places along the route we will check out as well. I’ve spent a lot of time exploring the west but haven’t been East at all. Looking forward to it!

Messing with my squirrel load again

I tried some 310 and 311 balls early on but moved to larger balls that seemed to group better in my Crockett. I still have a few 310’s laying around somewhere and may give them a try again as well. Judging from the widening of groups with .319 balls I might have hit the upper limit of “tight”...

Messing with my squirrel load again

that really tightened my groups with this rifle. Hope it works for you.

Messing with my squirrel load again

Seems like you can find multiple combos that will work for squirrels at 25 yards. Stepping back a bit things do open up for me. This is why I keep trying different things to see if I can wring out as much as I can. You just have to keep changing one thing at a time until you find what works...

Messing with my squirrel load again

I do have to use a short starter but can push it down. Each one is different but mine like things pretty tight.

Help with muzzleloader shops in Wv, NC, and SC

Howdy y’all. Greg B from Arkansas here. Don’t have a flinter just yet but have been eying several small caliber long rifles lately. I’d really like a good 32 - 36 squirrel rifle. Have a few cap locks but haven’t yet taken the flint leap. Looking at Kibler southern mountain rifles and a few...

Messing with my squirrel load again

Took the Crockett out yesterday and again today to try a few new combos. Previously I tried .319 hand cast balls against the .315 hornady balls I’ve been using. Both with 7/1 dry patch using .018 ish pillow ticking. 20 grains fff Swiss. At 25 yards not much difference in either load. Set...
