    good scrubbing with steel wool and rebluing. as long as the cylinder turns it will be a fine shooter.

    canvas bags can be water proofed by painting them with latex paint. charcoal black, or reddish or what ever color suits your fancy

    an old handmade rifle was probably made with Iron and not steel, making it not as strong as a repro of today. would need to be careful with loads. best to preserve it by not firing

    I have used a thick brass wire around the lock to fill in the space and make it fit better. sand it flat after makes a nice custom inlay look after.

    The CVA and Traditions barrels are the percussion ports threaded? The round percussion nipple ports on the barrels? can they be taken off and put in a liner to make them Flintlocks?
