I am building a 10-bore New England fowler and am going to jug choke the barrel. My question is what angle/taper should I cut on the breech and muzzle ends of the jugged section? I am thinking that it should taper at about 0.030" per linear inch of barrel, but that is purely a guess.

What do you carry in your hunting pouch for your shotgun?

I recently purchased a nicely restored W. C. Scott and Sons 12-bore double built in 1868 to use as a bird gun. This is my second percussion double. The first one, which I sold, was a Pedersoli, which was well made, but never appealed to me aesthetically. The Scott is beautiful to look at and the...

Trying to decide between 12-bore and 10-bore for a New England fowler build.

I am trying to decide between 12-bore and 10-bore for a New England fowler build using a Chambers kit. The gun will be used as a hunting gun for upland birds, waterfowl, and turkey. I already have a Fusil de Chase in 20-bore/62-caliber that I hunt with, but want something a bit larger. What...

    Let me introduce myself.

I live in Colorado and have been shooting muzzleloaders for about 50 years, have built a couple over the years, and shoot and hunt with percussion and flintlock shotguns, rifles, and pistols. The first gun I ever bought for myself was a Hopkins and Allen underhammer pistol I purchased from...

Looking for a Cherry Blank for a Half Stock Project

I am looking for a cherry wood stock blank for a half stock rifle project. Any recommendations on suppliers of good quality blanks? I have a bunch of assorted muzzleloader parts, some original from the 19th century and some 20th century, that I was given when I was in my teens and twenties by...
