    Smoldering tow

    Shooting in a match today, I was useing tow wadding. Got a couple good smoulders and was wondering if it would work to soak it in something, maybe borax ,let it dry or would it hurt the barrel since borax might cause rusting, but as long as the guns cleaned afterwards would it matter?

    Just bought inexpencive powderhorn on fleabay, its got some floral carving in it and a nice looking spout, the end plug is kinda big and clunky looking but I'll be able to redo it and make it look better, it will be paired with a Hudson valley fowler I have yet to recieve( its at a buddies house...
