Old Railroad Spikes for Knife Making

The ones marked HC are high carbon and are usually used at the railroad crossings. If one of these are used they make fine blades.

Anyone used 45 conical on deer?

I have taken several whitetail bucks with my .45 cal t/c Hawkins with t/c maxiballs and maxihunters using 70 gr of 3 f. Always had complete pass throughs. All shots were from 25 to 75 yds. Taken more bucks with that gun than all my other guns combined. I have complete confidence in this gun and...

    Trends in Muzzleloading, a shift?

    What was your first Muzzleloader?

Ordered a Thompson Center Renegade left hand .54 cal kit in the early 90s and put it together. Still have it today and still hunt with it occasionally.

    Musket caps vs #11

I have used a musket nipple in my t/c renegade and Hawkins but have since switched back to the # 11 nipples in both guns. I think ignition is better with the schuetzon #11 caps. I have had more misfire problems after multiple shots at the range with musket caps , I think because of the foil that...
