    Thin-walled 20ga Sharon?

I picked up what I believe is a "Franken-gun". If I have identified the parts correctly, it is a Lyman Deerstalker stock, with a cap lock (and I'm not sure if the lock itself is a Lyman or a TC), and has two barrels fitted to it. The first is a TC, marked with .50 caliber, but not model of...

    BLASPHEMY!!! Lyman 395gr conical

I have been using nothing but RBs for at least 15years now, and probably closer to 20, but was cleaning out the garage and found a couple boxes of some Lyman Plains Bullets that weigh 395grs per the boxes. The mold number is 508656 if that helps any. Do ya'll think these are even worth trying...

Anyone have any ideas on ID?

I was given a rifle, and have been told it is original built in 1803, but don't know if that is true or just wishful thinking. I will attempt to attach photos, and hope it works. This rifle is .38 caliber, with a 15/16" straight octagon barrel that measures 45" from the muzzle to the...

    replacement stock?

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a replacement stock for a Traditions Pensylvania flint lock longrifle? This is the one with the 15/16" barrel that is 40.5" long. It doesn't have to be new or in perfect condition, but has to be better than the current one. Thanks for any ideas.

    Rifled ML PRB shotgun

Does anyone here know of a rifled ML shotgun for use with PRB only? I mean, if modern shotguns can be rifled, why not a ML shotgun? This ought to stir the pot a bit between hunting seasons... :slap:

New rule at my local range

So I went and was informed that we have some new range rules, and this is what I found: "No 50 calibers or larger caliber allowed on the ranges.(this includes Black powder)" and "No shotguns." For what it's worth, this is a privately owned range so the range owner gets final say, but I'm...

How do you load a muskrat?

A lady at work pulled me aside and said she had heard something about me, and then proceeded to ask me "How do you load a muskrat?" Well, I didn't really know what to say for a second. Then told her to just put it in a roast pan, with whatever vegetables she likes, but I think potatoes...

    Texas legal shotgun vs. rifle

I have a goofy question for y'all. Now this is in regards to hunting a Corps or Engineers are in Texas, that allows shotgun hunting only. Now some here may disagree with me, but just for the sake of :stir: , bear with me. Now the regs at this particular area state that I can legally use a...

    BAD turkey load idea

I didn't want to hijack Roundball's thread regarding the 28ga turkey loads, so here goes. Over time, I have read a lot of posts saying that the traditional way of hunting turkeys was with rifles, or often RBs. However, we all have to live with and follow the current game laws that were not in...

Tried a .490 PRB in my GM .54

So I tried a .490 PRB in my GM .54 smooth-barrelled GPR. I have been getting decent groups using .527s in it, but had some .490s also so loaded some up. At 50yds, the first shot was in the exact center of the 1.5" bullseye, with the next 8 shots scattered about 4-5" in any direction of it for...

    .54 smoothbore waterfowling loads

Does anyone have any idea on waterfowl loads for a .54/28ga? I just got off the phone with Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. and also called U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to make sure I was legal so I wouldn't violate game laws or even spend too much on developing loads I can't use legally. Both...

    Shot horn

Ok Y'all, dont laugh too hard as this is my first attempt at making a horn, but what do you all think? ANY and all criticism is welcomed as it will only help me improve in the long run. This is also my first time attempting to post pictures so I hope I get that right too...

    meanings of inlays

I hope this is the right place to put this question, but if not, Moderators, please move it where it belongs. I am finally back to working on a Lyman GPR flint kit, and have been considering putting some form of inlay into it as I need to learn to do inlays anyway. I have read many posts...

    12 ga sxs loads

I have been testing a lot of loads through my GM .54 smooth, and having a lot of luck, especially since I got a wad punch from Ohio Ramrod :hatsoff: (Thank You) recently to make my own. I never measured the store bought ones I had gotten from TOTW prior to this punch, but love being able to...

    What do I have?

I went with a friend to look at a few guns, and ended up bringing one home with me :idunno: . It is a double barrel caplock with "made in India" stamped on top of the barrels just in front of the breech. The barrels themselves are 31 inches long measured with a dowel down the muzzles, and...

    Trade gun or fowler?

Ok, all of you have me convinced that I "need" a 42" barrelled .62 smoothy, but I like the lines of both Fowlers and Trade guns. The use would be mainly for hunting, with some target use thrown in, but focusing on the hunting. Which would you all choose and why? I am not looking for anything...

    Lyman prices

Just so you all know, I called Lyman customer service yesterday asking about a few spare parts, and was told by the service rep that they are expecting a "significant price increase" due to hit soon because of the falling dollar and prices they were given by the Italian manufacturer. Now I dont...

    TVM

Some time ago, I bought a kit for a .32 FL and just did not have the skill to actually build it, so off it went to TVM. I know many of you here have dealt with Toni and Matt and wont be surprized, but this was a first for me. All I can say is that i was very pleasantly surprized when I opened...

    a box arrived today...

I ordered a kit awhile back back, that had issues, so it was sent back. BAsically, it came with the wrong size ramrod, the inletting I had paid for was not done, and the barrel I was sent was unmarked even though i was told it was a longhammock instead of the green mountain i had ordered. A...

I cant come up with any relevant results when doing a search for "long hammock barrels"? What can you all tell me, mainly, how do they measure up to a GM? Thanks.
