Referring to a Smoothbore as a Smoothie

Some of you boys still don’t have this figured out, do you? It’s not about Flintlocks or cap guns or store bought rifles. Nor it is about the socio economic stratum. It is about the forum syndrome. Some keyboard shooter finds out that he can punch a few buttons and see his name and comments...

Referring to a Smoothbore as a Smoothie

I have the most fun dropping the bait in the water and waiting for the “forum syndrome “ I only come back to it after about five pages and laugh at the bites that I get. There isn’t a teacup of brains among the lot of you. Cheap store bought cap guns and fake powder. When you see a custom...

A Starter Rifle For A Friend

I don’t believe that I would start a new muzzleloader out on a cheap store bought rifle. Start out with the best or not at all.

Referring to a Smoothbore as a Smoothie

Smoothies, Rondies, Remmies, and the like are used by modern BP shooters who live in apartments and shoot on public ranges and are completely out of touch with real muzzle loaders. They also “run” trick stainless steel nipples in Remmies etc. Most of these people use cap locks and BP...

    Stock Blanks

I have purchased 16 rifle stocks from Pecatonica with not one complaint. They do not misrepresent stocks.

2nd and 3rd Gen Colt Percussion Revolvers

Does anyone know what the current market value of 2nd and 3rd Gen Colt Percussion revolvers is? I have several NIB. I know full well the history of both. I only need an educated guess.

    Load development?

The average of three groups, each one three shots, has proven many times to give a more accurate depiction of the rifle’s capabilities and less of the human error. The rest of the recipe is a Rice barrel and a Chambers lock.

    L&R Locks

There was some discussion at the Friendship NMLRA National Matches as to why L&R didn’t have their booth open during the Spring matches. They didn’t show up to fix the all the broken locks this time which left some customers unable to shoot. There was a rumor that they couldn’t afford the gas.

    Muzzle Velocity

Does anyone know what the muzzle velocity of a .40 caliber PRB is with 60 grains of 3FG from a 42” barrel?

My new Whitworth and Volunteer molds

Many years ago during the heat of an all day rifle match I inquired of my fellow shooter as to “Wonder how John is shooting to day”. My partner replied “He ain’t shooting, he’s playing with guns.”

My new Whitworth and Volunteer molds

Mr Minshall, I freely confess that I am prejudiced against paper patching. My apologies to any and all that I might have offended. I’m an old BPCR shooter who sought the simplest way to win. Thank you for your continued efforts to educate us on Whitworth rifles.
