    T/C .54 Grey Hawk ?

I like that P.A.Myers. Very nice. I've taken at last a dozen deer with my .54 Grayhawk. The day I got it, I took it past my bro-in-law's and we shot it at 40 yards at an old target. It was cold so we only shot 4 times total. Not much to shoot at but a hole in the old target back. We ragged...

left handed shooter in a right handed world

:rotf: :rotf: :rotf: That reminds me of my son. He can't zip his pants with his right hand. I found a Left-hand Lyman for my son. I'm right handed but left-eye dominant. I have no problems shooting right or left.

    Barn Guns and Hog Rifles

We always used a .22 Magnum for slaughtering cows and hogs. We never kept it in the barn, tho. It was actually an over/under .22WMR/20 ga. rifled Savage. It was kept in the truck during planting season. SHot a few skunks in the field near the back hog lot. There is actually a USDA regulation...

.54 Caliber Round Ball Whitetail Load

I use 75 gr Triple 7 , in my TC GreyHawk .54 . Most of my shots are less then 40 yards. Seems to be the load it likes best. I wouldn't go over 85-90.

In-ear or behind-ear muzzle blast protection

I believe he is refering to the projectile speed being subsonic, not the speed of sound. I hunt with a friend that is completely deaf. He can't hear a shotgun ,firing slugs, 100 yards away, but can hear my muzzleloader 1/4 mile away. It's a different tone, I guess.

    T/C Gray Hawk

The GrayHawk has the same stock as the New Englander and the Black Mountain . I have a .54 that I have taken many deer with. GREAT shooter. Where I hunt, there always seems to be alot of briars. I don't have to think about not scratching the synthetic stock.

    soften leather

I used to work at a factory that made leather gloves. We had a HUGE wooden drum, about 8 feet tall. , that had wooden posts , about 3" in diameter, metal banded, that stuck out 12" or so, We could put 50 hides in there and soften them up, in about 2 hours. The friction of the hides rubbing each...

Anyone Huntin Last Illinois Deer Season?

My brother-in-law came in saying how the coyotes were going at it and close. I wonder what the deal is with them. He didn't see anything , either. I've been sick , off and on , for the last 2 weeks. I don't think I'm gonna try it.

    left handed shooters

I bought a left-handed Lyman Deerslayer .50 , several years ago, for my son. The local gun shop ordered it for me, once I found what I wanted. Real nice shooter.

Illinois Late Winter Doe Season, Anyone Goin'?

I'm gonna try to get out there in a couple of weeks. I'll have to be feeling a WHOLE lot better than I have the last few days. Work was rough today, but I had to do it to preserve my holiday pay, otherwise, I woulda called in. A friend of mine east of here , went out, and said he may have...

Illinois Late Winter Doe Season, Anyone Goin'?

I started running a fever Friday and it didn't break until This morning. I wasn't about to go out. My bro-in-law had no luck, although my sister almost got one with her car, Saturday evening. :nono: My buddy I hunt with hasn't seen anything all weekend.

    Recovered roundballs anyone??

Although I've seen RB's flatten out anywhere from the size of a quarter to totally scrappnel apart, the one I recovered from the deer I took this year only flattened out slightly on the front side. I caught the side of a rib on the left side, took out the bottom 1/2 of the spine, and...
