    Buying BP in Cincinnati-Dayton area?

There was a little mom and pop just South of Dayton I used to get BP at. It's been years so I don't remember the name. I found them in the Yellow Pages. They sold Goex for $20 a pound. I started ordering from Powder Inc. Much cheaper and it comes to your door. Graff & Sons used to have...

    Fixed Powder Measures

Hey Mike, do you have any moose antlers lying around? You can make your own fixed measures with antler tips. You can make some nice measures by hollowing out an antler just enough for your charge. I've made some out of deer antler. It's pretty easy to work with. HD

Question about T/C Hawken stock ?

Not a big deal. Drill them out bigger and glue in some hardwood plugs. Plugs, not dowels. That is because of the direction on the grain. I've had to do that on 3 of my rifles. Easy to accomplish. Just be EXTRA sure to drill the new holes properly. You don't want to have to do it again. Good...

    Lube advice

I don't put any lube over the ball. I use a lubed felt wad between powder and ball. No worries about chain fire and no mess. HD

    First Rifle Question

Welcome to the shooting world! You would not regret getting into muzzleloading. After learning that, all else will be a piece of cake. A .50 cal rifle would be a great start. You can load it light with patched roundball until you get the feel of it and then you can load it heavier. There are...

    Lee bottom pour pot

Don't blame the pot. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help prevent that from happening. When bringing mine up to temp I always have a pan under the spout to catch spills. As the lead melts from the bottom up it will expand and push the stopper up allowing it to drip or pour out. I tap the...

    windy shooting forcast for today

I just shoot. If you are trying to work up a load for a rifle, forget it. If you already have an accurate rifle then go shoot and see what the wind conditions to to your groups. You'll hopefully learn something that can help you in the field when taking a shot at that big buck on a windy day...

    Lead

Telephone cable lead sheath. Nice and soft. One of the advantages of being a phone guy. I had about 600 pounds but I'm down to about 500 now. That will last me the next 100 years or so. HD

    Black is the best!!!!

It's not the powder, it's your load combination... I can shoot 10-15 or even 20 shots of PRB or conical without swabbing and I shoot 90-100 grains of Goex 2F. Lot's of factors come into play here. HD

    Too many guns ?

I'm jumping in here awful late but your topic title caught my eye. My answer is simply NO, you cannot possibly own too many BP arms. My wife may have a different answer to this question though. HD
