    Cleaning a Kentucky

Put a piece of leather or inner tube over the nipple and let the hammer down on it. Fill it half full of windshield washer fluid, windex, Simple Green, or tepid water. Slosh that around a bit with your thumb over the muzzle and dump it out. Patch it and repeat a few times. Hot water causes...

    Trade or Not?

I bought the bowl from Old Salem, NC. I made the stem from river cane.

    Trade or Not?

Here they are. The Colts are real Colts and unfired. 1851 Navy, 1862 Pocket Pistol, and a Remington 1858.

    Trade or Not?

No, the top of the barrel just like antique Colts.

    Trade or Not?

I just picked up the sack of BP revolvers. They were not exactly as described. It turned out to be a second generation Colt 1851 Navy, a second generation 1862 Colt pocket pistol, and a brass framed 1858 Remington. I've been shooting black powder for many years but I've never fired live...

    Trade or Not?

The fellow agreed to the trade. I'm supposed to go get them next weekend. I hope he doesn't back out.

    Trade or Not?

I have a chance to trade a real nice 870 20 gauge magnum Wingmaster for a new in the box Colt Signature Navy, a new in the box Colt Signature Army, and an Italian made Remington .44. Is that a good trade?

    Original TN Rifle

A local shop has what I believe to be an original rifle. The lock and triggerguard are missing. It is at this time a percussion gun. It has a nice spear point tang. The barrel looks to be at least 44" and I'd guess it's about a 40 caliber and perhaps 1" across the flats. I don't see any...

    New range report, T/C Hawken

I only use .520s in my .54s (Renegade, Colerain, and Getz) and they shoot great. A .010 patch will burn through everytime.

    New range report, T/C Hawken

I wish I could understand how you get a .530 down a .54 Renegade. I've owned 3 of them and it took a mallet to get the same combo you are using started down the barrel. Even a .520 is hard to load.

    Newbie Question On Lube?

Break-Free CLP is the only thing I've tried that prevents rust. I've also used WD-40 with great results. I have been since it first came out.

    Mild target/plinking load for .50 T/C Hawken?

I use 60 grains of 3f for hunting and plinking.

    A Good Day

Was that at the Pensacola show or the Milton show? I seem to remember seeing a gun that was crazy priced. This Renegade cleaned up real nice. I used Oxphoblue on the buttplate and it looks like new.

    Suggestions for shooting .54cal PRB

I prefer .520 balls and thick patches. You shouldn't have a tough time loading the correct combo.

Almost Ready For Another Pound of Powder

I use 3f in everything. It's much cleaner burning. If you wish to reduce your charges that's fine but I don't. You really can't hurt these guns.
