    Amusing/Ridiculous Muzzleloading Misconceptions...

I was at the range a month or so ago and a man had his daughter about ten yrs old practicing for youth season with a modern rifle. She was watching me shoot as I let them move from downwind before I shot so she wouldn’t be in the smoke cloud. Or course she fired many more rounds than I did...

I made a range box lets see some more.

I made this one like an old tool box. All pegged (dowels) together. Only metal in it is the brass tacks holding the leather in the rifle rests.

    Range box?

I can’t tell what size the dimples are but I have two boards with 25 holes arranged like that for scoring bench rest targets for USBR and ARA matches. Just a possibility.

    Marbles Bullseye Modification

I made one to fit in the inner ring that I like. I reamed out the hole in a 1/8 aluminum rivet with a number 42 drill bit to 0.94” and blackened it with aluminum black. A short piece of black heat shrink tubing slid over the shank of the river made a tight slip fit in the center aperture. It fit...

    I’m still alive

Cowboy, I’m so sorry to hear this. My prayers are already sent for you both. I’m looking forward to going hunting with the .50 I bought from you as soon as my wife and I get over this covid we caught. We’re both better but it’s hanging on still after about ten days now. May the Lord bless and...

    Melting lead question

I’ve another newbie question. I have a new Lee mold with handles. I’ve read the directions several times but it says nothing about this. Each half of the mold is held to the handle by an Allen screw. They are slightly loose allowing the halves to wiggle a little. Are they supposed to be this...

    Boiling water!

If this is not acceptable please delete and accept my apologies. On peeing down a barrel. I worked for 20 yrs on horseback guarding inmate work squads. I carried a rifle and sidearm, occasionally a shotgun instead of a rifle. Those unmentionables had terribly corroded barrels. When I questioned...

    TARGET IDEA

Charcoal briquettes makes good black poof. When the kids were young I’d buy the plastic Easter eggs after Easter for next to nothing. Drill a small hole in the top half and run a string thru it with a knot on the inside to hang them with. Fill the egg with flour and tape or glue shut. Hang by...

    Melting lead question

Hey Treestalker I saw that term used on another forum a couple yrs ago and read it to her. We both laughed at what was going to happen to him if she found out. Now we pick at each other using wife unit or husband unit. Guess I should have explained but thought y’all might get a kick out of it...

    Melting lead question

I have several lbs of beeswax so I should be good for a while. The wife unit found a few 2 lb blocks at a garage sale recently and got it as she’d heard me mention it. Just hope she don’t hear me call her the wife unit!

    Melting lead question

I didn’t know you can leave lead in it. I’d read somewhere else months ago it won’t remelt lead in the spout area and just stay stopped up. They probably had trash like you said and didn’t know that. Thanks for mentioning. The mold instructions said beeswax for flux and spru cutter lube if I...

    Melting lead question

Looks like the problem is solved. A person just messaged me a bottom pour pot for shipping charges! It wasn’t my intention to ask for gifts but you do reap as you sow. I’ve given things away too. I’ve not been on the forum long but seems a lot of nice people here!

    Melting lead question

Thanks for the replies. Even with the Coleman stove and cast iron I’d usually melt a little in the pot with a propane torch, then the burner would keep it melted and new lead added would melt on touching the lead that was melted. It would take a long time to get the pot hot enough to melt lead...
