    What was your first Muzzleloader?

.54 T/C Renegade, percussion, prior to the QLA (fiasco). VA. just started a muzzleloader season, that was the motivation. Killed my first ML deer with that rifle, still have it!

    Got meat

I ended up killing two button bucks last month, dang it!! It's nearly impossible to tell in low light, thought they were does. Oh, well gave one to the land owner and one for me. Best eating meat IMO! Congrats on your kill!!

traditionalist - Are we Loosing the Battle

I don't see the problem! One can use a traditional rifle during the early/late muzzleloader seasons or a inline in Va. During regular modern firearms season one can still use a muzzleloader without buying a muzzleloader license. It's personal choice! Just because you don't want/like what others...

    High shoulder shot .50 cal

Nope, a deer will drop in it's tracks with a high shoulder shot if done right! I've killed several that way! No tracking involved!

    High shoulder shot .50 cal

I know for a fact a .45 conical high shoulder shot will drop a deer! Got this year's 5 point with a 488gr. Bullshop. Very little meat loss. I'm sure .50 cal.would be the same results. The shot was off hand, just a tree for stability meant to hit lower, but he was walking fast and stopped him...

    Primers

I do the same and want a sharp "crack" when the cap goes off. If not then another cap will usually do it.

    Negativity towards Traditions guns

I have never owned a tradition's firearm, have been tempted by the Crockett .32 many times. I own a couple TC Renegade's an CVA, White rifles. Have shot and killed deer with both. Like them all!

    GAME WARDENS

My dad was a game warden. I grew up with many of them coming to the house for a monthly meeting. Dad was the area leader (Sergeant) for the six county area in VA. I have a lot of respect for those men! I was even considering to apply for a job after high school, but my eyes didn't make the...

Does Your State have a Primitive Deer Season

Wouldn't the mid January or first 3 days of February run into a pregnant doe with fawns? Usually most bucks have also shed antlers or about to in that same time of year, so antlerless deer would most likely be taken then. If that passes it wouldn't be good for the deer population I'd say.

    "Best" Number 10/11 Caps?

RWS 1075 or Remington Magnum caps are all I use. The Remington caps are more reliable an put four deer in the freezer this season for me. Three deer for my son.
