New build for left eyed righthand shooter

A really novel way of dealing with the cross eye dominance. I have the same problem with crosseye dominance. I violate all the rules about shooting with both eyes open except for unmentionables with an unmentionable red dot thingy. Keep the red dot thingy (won't call it a sight...don't want to...

    Aqua Fortis and BLO

Aqua Fortis is Nitric Acid. Aqua Regia is a 3:1 mixture of concentrated HCL acid with concentrated Nitric Acid. Should be careful with Aqua Fortis...Be ABSOLUTELY paranoid cautious with Aqua Regia. Aqua Fortis will not dissolve gold; Aqua Regia will. FWIW I wouldn't play with either of them.

    Muzzle-Loaders.com

A little late to the party, but I have purchased both a Crocket 32 cal, a Traditons 50 cal Kentucky Long Rifle and various bullets from them. Never had a problem and fast shipping. I understand your caution. Good Luck. You should be fine with them.

    Casting problems

How would you design a split mold with three wings? It would appear that however you would do it you would have either a seam in the middle of a wing or an asymmetrical split that would be equally hard to remove the bullet from because one "half" would be past center.

No wiping or swabbing he said!

I believe he said that there was a rough spot in the barrel. He used the corn meal to increase the height of the load column in the barrel so that the PRB sat above the rough spot in the barrel. I could be wrong. It's been known to occur...just ask my better half.

Did the unthinkable to my GPR but I love it!

Just plain electrical tape? It didn't melt or leave a gooey mess? or am I thinking the heat needs to be left there longer than it does?

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Glad you got it out. Did the steam get the gunk behind it out? I've used a bullet puller alternated with a patch puller to break up and clean out gunk that was left in a barrel. ATB. Jerry

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Thanks, it felt good when I saw it drop out of the barrel. I looked but could not find if jtlancer, the OP, got his stuck ball out. Anyone know if he did? Did he end up shooting it out? ATB Jerry

You are correct. Lesson learned. Thanks for all the help everyone. jtlancer, how did you make out with your stuck ball? Jerry

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Thanks be to Heaven...it's out! I ran the endoscope down again this morning mostly because I wanted to take a picture of what I was seeing in the bore. I guess the CO2 dislodger had done some good. There was a little row of dots of light on the one side of the scraper and the scraper did not...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Rudall, As I reread your post I noticed something. The flat end of the scraper is fully inside the stepped down breech. The front of the round body of the scraper is stuck in the stepped down breech as well. So it is a round stopper caught in a round pipe...like a cork in a bottle which is not...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Hi, Rudall, I put an endoscope down the bore. It clearly shows the scraper stuck in the step down breech. It is at the front of the breech where it narrows. It looks like it's good and straight but stuck. When I "mop" the barrel with a heavy dab of bore butter on a patch, there is quite a bit...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

Hi, Professor Flintlock, It is a TC Renegade 50 Cal. Serial # 176XXX. Stock is in good shape. The barrel is looking good after a lot of steel wool and bore butter. Finding a gunsmith in these parts is tough. I'd like to be able to shoot it, but at this point I'm getting close to where too...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

My big worry is that there was a soft spot between the barrel bore and the narrow patent breech...perhaps caused by a spot of rust or pitting. If the solid brass scrapper got wedged into that "pit", it may take quite a bit of pressure to remove it. fjb, there is a good seal. After I stuck the...

Stuck ball in a charged rifle

I was hoping that a pressured gas container would generate more than 120 PSI. We will see.
