    time machine

From 1965 on, the Navy had me using an IBM 360 computer regarding activities in our A-4 squadron. All data was entered on punch cards, and the machine would have a hard time fitting in the average living room. Aboard the carrier, I enjoyed doing the cards - the computer room was kept between...

Back before showers were prevalent, and baths were for Saturday night - IF you lived in a house, people, well, for our times, people STANK! But you stank also, just about the same as everyone else. Women used cloth rags, or fleece, and generally did wash the part of the body a bit more than...

Ordered 3 tins from Graf on Friday - their per-person limit. They will be in my hands Tuesday.

    Election time is over!

I just tape or staple my paper targets to that plastic cardboard stuff. But must admit that sometimes I take my frustration out on the politician's picture or name. Just jab those two wires into the ground and take aim.

Hello all, new member from WNC

Welcome, Mike! Would you have any idea how good or bad the VA medical is there in western NC, or do you have Veteran friends you might ask? Contemplating a move to rural, western NC. Pretty good here in central Ohio - MUCH better than in eastern OK!

    Advice on getting started crafting.

Actually, a Dremel is quite handy for polishing trigger guards and the like. Keep it well away from wood, however.

    German 54-Caliber Buchsflinte (A Dbl-Barreled Cape Gun)

Soon as I get a camera! Old fogie here! The wood, especially on the French one, is beautiful, and feels so fine to the hand. RH (rifled barrel) won't hold cock, so will send it to a friend to have the full-cock sear stoned. It does have a fly, and the interior steel is so polished that it...

    German 54-Caliber Buchsflinte (A Dbl-Barreled Cape Gun)

Beautiful! I have two doubles, both percussion, both from 1850. One is British, the other French - and very much like yours. That one is a "stalking gun", the right barrel being rifled (~.36), the other smooth (~20 bore). Both are very well made, fully engraved. Thanks for showing yours.

I got mine at Tractor Supply Company, TSC.

    Pistol for edc?

Here in Ohio, concealed and open carry are both legal, no permit needed. Our local prosecuting attorney told me that if a projectile is fired from igniting any type of gun powder, it is considered a "firearm". So if you have a felony on record that has not been expunged, it is illegal to carry...

    Kibler SMR All in-the-white?

My first ML was finished "in the white". It was an original 1861 Springfield.

    Lock Binding

Try the "lipstick" first, and remember it is easier to remove wood than metal. For me, it has always been just a wee bit of wood that gets in the way.

I am sorry about my posts on casting

Never had a lick of trouble, but then I've always been good with my hands. Been building stuff since I was six. We moved into a house in London that had a small "canal" running around the garden. Got a packing crate (our stuff had been in wooden crates for the sea voyage from the USA to Great...

    Glad to be here.

Jim, welcome to a friendly and helpful Forum. Kinda wish I lived in Montana - too many people here in O-hi-ho. And I'm allergic to people. Well, many of them. But the VA here is tops, and does a good job of keeping my ol' butt alive.
