    Excessive Fouling

Pay it no mind. There’s been more than enough senseless, rude, and inappropriate comments on this post. I normally regret asking questions on here. Everyone thinks their way is the only way and they’re the only ones that’s right. A simple question turns into a damn carnival of comments that are...

    Bore Butter?

I really like the idea of it as well OP. And I did like it quite a lot. Easy to use, made loading nice, smells good, kept fouling soft, all that great stuff. Until I had the same problems you are. And running a patch down the bore of my clean rifle and pulling back out this brown cruddy...

    Excessive Fouling

Well I went out earlier this time the only thing I changed was patches. I broke out some bridgers best .015’s and to my surprise the patches didn’t blow. I’ve had that issue with them with pyrodex and even with ticking sometimes the very first patch would blow for some reason. Anyways I still...

    Excessive Fouling

Very interesting. My loading that I stated in the beginning of my post evolved from originally being a 490 with a .015 patch. My patches were blowing out, accuracy wasn’t there. I went to a 490 with .02” patching and fixed everything except the very first shot on a clean bore would be off by 6”...

    Excessive Fouling

I’d really like to keep my accuracy lol. And if it comes down to having to swab between shots I’d just abandon goex all together due to hunting and the nature of the way I shoot

    Excessive Fouling

Hello gentlemen! Before I start rambling about this, I did do quite a bit of searching through old threads about this and it DID clear the air a great deal on my issue. But, left me wondering. Finally got my hands on some real black! And before I go into detail I’ll list my rifle details and...

    The Tennessee Rifle

This information is gold guys, thank you so much! I’ve got an interest in specific that I have a feeling it’s what my great great great and so fourth grandfather’s would’ve had. The furthest back I’ve made it is one of them from the 1830’s period living in north central Georgia and eventually...

    Fire Bluing

Hey y’all. Is it possible to fire blue a barrel? If so, will it hurt the barrel to do so?

    The Tennessee Rifle

Absolutely! That’s good news brother! I hope all goes well and looking forward to some more vids!

    The Tennessee Rifle

Ahh that clears up a lot Bob. Thank you for that! How are you by the way?

    The Tennessee Rifle

Hey fellers. I know this may possibly be a simple question with a complicated answer, but I’ve been looking for information on the history of the Tennessee Rifle. And something that has struck me in my wanderings is, what’s the real difference between a Tennessee Rifle and a Southern Mountain Rifle?

    Beeswax for running ball

I sure appreciate all the knowledge guys. This has been extremely difficult for me for some silly reason. But after reading all of this and playing around over the past weekend I started producing good product. I guess I need to go shoot a dozen or so to see how they do

    Beeswax for running ball

Hey guys. So I’ve been trying off and on for about a year trying to cast my own balls and failing miserably. I’ve seen all kinds of crazy nonsense whilst trying my best to produce shootable balls. And tonight I just found out you should mix in beeswax as well as get everything hot enough. I...

    Nipples and Accuracy

I thought so too. But I’ve been shooting the same patch and ball combo for a few years with zero issues. And after I went back to the track of the wolf or Treso nipple I went back to having perfect patches again. Pressure is truly the name of the game there

    Nipples and Accuracy

Sure man PM me your address. I’ve got 5 of them. Got any spare 3/4” flints?

    Nipples and Accuracy

    They are not equal

    Nipples and Accuracy

I do. The hole in the nipple is considerably smaller. Creating greater pressure. Sorry, meant to mention that. The oxyoke nipples to put simply are flat out sub-parr.
