    REGARDING 1862 5-SHOT POLICE MODELS?

I just picked up a Colt 2nd Gen 1862 and it will be going for Goonerization asap. It’s nicely done but can definitely use Goons tender touch.

Another great video! Thanks! I’m recently bit by the smoothbore bug and loving it!

    M. Avance Fowler 20 gauge

Great info! I’ll confirm when I eventually pull the barrel. Thanks!

    M. Avance Fowler 20 gauge

I used 2F for the main charge but primed with 3F. I forgot I brought 4F until I was packing to leave. I’ll be experimenting plenty with different powder, different size ball and patches. I do like how easy my combo of .600 ball and .012 patching went down the fouled barrel. Thanks again everyone...

    M. Avance Fowler 20 gauge

I put about 7 shots down range at about 23 yards standing and was pleasantly surprised with my first efforts. 70 grains Goex FF, .012 ticking with Dixon’s patch lube (tallow, bear oil, etc) and .600 ball. First shot hit dead center and the rest showed promise. I did not bench it yet because I...

    M. Avance Fowler 20 gauge

Excellent post! Thank you! I’ve been going through some of the posts and have some good starting points. I have plenty 3F as well so I can try that as well. Thank you again! PS not sure of the barrel maker until I get the guts to pull it.

    M. Avance Fowler 20 gauge

I picked up this Matt Avance .62/20 gauge Fowler today at Dixon’s. The 36” barrel caught my eye since I like them a bit short. Some dings in the metal and a blued finish that is too dark/modern looking(?) for my liking. Some minor damage to wood where 2 pins go through under barrel. Maple stock...

    1851 vs 1861

Besides the barrel assemblies I do not believe there is a difference. To answer the second question, they might be interchangeable if both are recent manufacture Uberti (CNC?) Someone more knowledgeable can confirm or deny.

I bought that box from Cap and Ball in Hungary and it’s great.

Carrying Paper Cartridges Back in the Day?

This is a great thread. I’ve been pondering this lately since I’m making paper cartridges now for my 1861. I won’t go back to loading loose any more due to how great they work. With that said, Crockett’s point of shootists loading loose and keeping commercially made as backup makes the most...

47 Walker (new Uberti): My Take on Shooting it So Far

I recently shot my newly Goonerized Uberti Taylor’s Walker and was very happy with it. I’d shot it once or twice previous to Goonerization and had a few cap jams that required partial disassembly (grip frame) to remove the offender. After full Goonerization, zero cap jams and accurate shooting...

    Pietta 1851 .36 questions

I’m stating the obvious but you did remove the backstrap so you have full, straight on access to that mainspring screw? Clamp her in a vice, and with a properly fitted screwdriver do the hammer tap trick stated above and then apply careful but steady downward pressure on the screwdriver while...

    What do I have here?

Those look to be inspired by the S&W Model 41 .22 Target pistol. Especially in the trigger guard area.
