    front sight

    I am curious about how a front post sight is designed. I see on my Hawkin it is rounded in the front and made of bright metal, "brass} while the receiver is iron? What do you fellows think is the reason for the way it is installed? I have my thoughts as I am sure you do as well.

    undersized ball experiment

    Has anyone tried a smaller cal. ball in a rifle by using a very thick patch? Like a .45 in a .54? I would think you could stack patches until you got a good seal? I have not tried this but I can't get it off my mind?

    I found a nipple in my T.C. parts stash. It is stainless and measures .544 from base to tip. The thread is the same as my Ithaka Hawkin but is quite a bit shorter? One of you fellows will know what it fits , I sure don't?
