    Faux finish started today. Going for natural look, I don't want it to pop like a sore thumb but leave nice traces in the wood as you turn it through the sunlight. Still have a ton of work ahead.

    An old video from 2016 or 17 when I tried my new traditions St.louis Hawken kit that I just finished. First 100 yard try. I believe this was 70gr 2fg Olde Eynsford, .020 patch and .490 round ball.

    25 yards with the CVA Mountain Pistol 54cal. I used a cut down 1:48 cva hawken barrel. A little over 6 inches. 30gr 3fg Gearhart-owen 3fg, .020 spit patch, .530 round balls. Super happy! 3 shot and 10 shot group. Time to adjust sights.

    Did some lapping with 220 and 320 grit kit from Wheeler today. Just 25 yard target for something to aim at. 50gr Gearhart-owen 3fg 270gr and 295gr powerbelts The 270gr powerbelt platinums seemed to shoot better, but I preferred the 295s as the skirt gives a better seal and they load tighter...

    Third coat of Birchwood Casey genuine oil over a 600 grit finish on this walnut stocked CVA Hawken. Many many more coats to come. Look at the colors in that wood! No stain, all natural walnut.
