    Recommended first flintlock?

Ok , I am going to go against the grain here and advise you to stay away from a Lyman Great Plains rifle . I had one and it was nothing but trouble . I changed the trigger, lock, sights for higher quality items and it was still a disappointment and I gave it away in disgust not wishing to charge...

    Sizing .451

Perhaps that explains the PH after the bullet number 457121 ? I see that Lyman no longer lists a 457121 under rifle moulds , they do list the 457121PH under blackpowder moulds [ page 44 of catalogue ] and describe as a .45 .

    Sizing .451

There is an anomaly here with regard to the bullet produced by the mould . I see you draw your information from Midway , however an examination of the Lyman website and indeed the Lyamn 2019 catalogue state that the 457121 PH is .45 My own experience is that this bullet comes out of the mould...

    Whitworth Dimensions .

I was looking at a photo of a Parker Hale Whitworth and it appeared to me that there are several differences between that rifle and my own Pedersoli Whitworth . Notably the front sight was mounted higher and the comb on the buttstock was lower . Which may account for some of the difficulty that...

    PH Whitworth wanted in UK

Would that be a Chiquita banana or a Del Monte banana ? You think they would know wouldn't you ? [ Btw bananas are pentagonal not hexagonal so shouldn't be confused easily .] It's amazing how many dealers , who should know better , misrepresent these rifles - very Kranky behaviour . Bad show !

    PH Whitworth wanted in UK

I just chased up a rifle that was advertised on the internet , it turned out to be a Euroarms Volunteer and not a PH Whitworth. What I am finding is that gunstores will describe rifles as Parker Hale ,when in fact they are really Euroarms rifles with Parker Hale barrels . Whether this is done...

    PH Whitworth wanted in UK

Thanks tac, I heard about that gun from another forum , apparently it had been returned by a previous purchaser who was unhappy with it's condition . I will be bringing my bullet moulds, sights and associated paraphenalia , so it's just a rifle that I'm after . I held a firearms certificate...

    PH Whitworth wanted in UK

Hi Guys , maybe you can help here . I am returning to the UK to live . Obviously I wish to continue shooting black powder , and a Whitworth rifle in particular . Does anyone know where one might be found? What I am looking for is a Parker Hale Whitworth to purchase ,I have a lifelong friend who...

Parker Hale 1853 rear sight parts.

I'm not sure if this helps but the Pedersoli part number for the complete rear sight is 08000G8124. Parts diagram can be found here https://www.davide-pedersoli.com/uploads/prodotti/S221.pdf I have ordered parts through Shooter's Choice in Canada and also direct from Pedersoli . Takes a while...

Hi , I am dodger2 who is the same person as dodger ! After several months of not posting , I found that the forum did not acknowledge my existence any more , despite my old posts being extant . So the only course of action was to register all over again . Just for the record , I shoot a...
