    Howdy Y'all

Sounds like you have an incurrable case of Black Powder-itis. You may as well sit back and enjoy it , there is no known cure and the only treatment that gives relief is more guns .

    snake load test fire

I know that there are many folks that say the taste is like chicken . I,ve always thought more like frog legs or American eel. Go easy on the spices for the meat has a very delicate flavor.

    snake load test fire

Good little test , I,m not an expert , but have delt with many poison snakes over the years . Mostly Tx diaimond backs . I,ve found that it dosn,t take a great deal of force to kill them . I used to kill several a year on the ranch . Most of them were dispatched with a walking stick to...

    Thompson Center production

Like others here Ihave no reason to need to know what day , month, or year the TCs I,ve owned were assembled . There has been a few changes in the locks over the years and up untill recently stood ridgedly behind their warreny . You also have to consider the fact that TC put out kit guns . most...

    cut or flint

I,ve tried the cut flints several time over the years and alwaysfound them to be lacking . This is my theory right or wrong , when the flakes are knapped from the nodule , if there is astress or fault line it will normally come apart at the time of knapping . With the sawing prosess the fault...

    CVA.45 parts

A little word of caution , don,t crank down hard on the lock bolts , snug will be fine . If these bolts are tightened tooo much it will cause you many problems .

    Muzzleloading hunting declining?

After reading th posts on this thread , Most everone who posted has made a valid point that they feel has a poor effect on the hunting situation . I would have to bring to your attention that the decline in hunting began when the small family farm was driven out of existance by Fed ...

ball stuck, ramrod broke trying to get ball out,

After reading all the posts , I still don,t know if you are talking a "dry-ball" or were you trying to set up a load for shooting and the rod broke ? If its "dry-ball" doing as Zonie said by packing a small charge of powder in the TH with a small wire should move any ball size hunk of lead after...

    Pyrodex as a primer

O nce more I have to agree with Zonie , As long as accurate care is observed everyting is fine . Also , if you have some of the older Adds from Hodgon , you,ll find subtle differences in their wording and reccomends . These Cos. don,t always double check what thei PR and ADD folks are...

    Pyrodex as a primer

:hmm: I pretty much agree with Zonie,s assessment . The other item I,d have to agree with is the subs are availible most places . Yes I have used Pyrodex so I do know the difference . The origenal formula is quite close to real BP. The other subs differ in chemical make-up.Mixing any of the...

My ff and fff debate put to rest

Glad to hear your experment worked out so well for you . Theres little question that there seems to be guns that have a mind of their own , and no matter how much you mix&match the patching , lube and ball size Just will not do quite as well with changing the powder from 3f to 2f or visa-versa ...

Priming Question from a New Shooter

Have to agree with most here , after trying a few styles of cappers , putting them on by hand works best for me . I think there may have been a few of the OLD caps that were pretty sensitive to preasure and may have had a problem igniting with toooo much fingerr preasure (fulimate of mercury)...

    Sheath Protection

This is just my take on this subject , but in general , the old timers did much more skinning and cutting with their edged tools. So grease from animal fats got pretty well spread around their leather gear. I don,t think too many of them did much more then wipe their hands on their britches...
