    Flintlocks and Black Powder

I have found that to ensure reliable function that 4FG in the pan is a must. Also, I only use real black powder such as Goex in flintlocks. Make sure you rock it back to the flash hole too!

    American Historical Foundation Walker Tribute

It's incredible to consider the depreciation in value of a completely unused item. Original 1994 price $2444, in 2019 Dollars = $4267.78 and now $300 to me. That's less than a new standard Uberti Walker alone in a cardboard box. So much for the investment angle on commemoratives.

    American Historical Foundation Walker Tribute

Yes, tucked in a corner of a case with a few BP pistols. I had already bought the Armi San Marco that was sitting next to it at least two years ago. That one I paid $250 for. I turned my nose up at the locked up, garish horse pistol. They were made by Uberti and there were a few versions offered...

    American Historical Foundation Walker Tribute

Up till now I have spent a lifetime of shooting without having the tiniest desire to own a "Commemorative" firearm of any sort. The very idea of a John Wayne commemorative with "The Duke's" image boldly laser etched into the American Walnut stock with case to proudly display on my wall left me...

    Hammer Cam Damage

Yes, the internet really helps. This video helped me understand what's going on "under the hood".

    Hammer Cam Damage

Just got a replacement hammer from Dixie Gun Works. Things started to improve with the new hammer. Further tweaks were required (along with a "hands on" education of how the pistol works). The bolt was rubbing against the bolt slot (filed and polished the slot). The bolt hand would not drop over...

My plan exactly, hammer on it's way.

    Hammer Cam Damage

I am fairly new to black powder shooting and picked up my 5th revolver at a local gun show. Presented as a "new in the box" Pietta 1860 Colt Army at less than list price. I examined it, the cylinder and nipples were pristine, slight cylinder wear I figured came from the original buyer cycling it...

    Cabela's and Bass Pro

Recently tried to place a mail order with Cabela's and found they have a new policy on black power firearms. Has anyone have any idea why they went this way. It will surely create sales with other internet vendors. Response By Email (Vicki N.) (01/28/2020 07:05 AM) Hello Paul, I am so sorry...

Easiest, effective way to clean revolvers

I found that using Crisco (for lubrication more than chain fires) to cover the cylinder keeps everything much cleaner and running trouble free (as free as BP pistols can be):). I like everything stored pristine so I disassemble and drop everything in an ultrasonic cleaner for around 16 minutes...

    Vest pocket derringer

Just tried mine out, ran 10 shots with .310 balls and paper cartridges :) containing 7.5 gr. Pyrodex FF. Shot clean. Pretty accurate, point and shoot at 10 feet.

    Rollin' My Own.......

Here's my method, e-zwiders cut to size, rolled on a dowel, fold over end, spot of hot glue, add ball, (even have a concave spot on the dowel to center) add powder and twist. When loading to shoot, I twist the end back open to expose the charge and drop in cylinder, seat ball and cover with...

Walker Colt loading lever tie down

    Thanks a heap!

Walker Colt loading lever tie down

I know the walking loading lever is an old chestnut for veteran Walker shooters, but new to me. I did not want to whip out the Dremel on this as the lever only occasionally drops a bit (so far) around +40 grains. Anyway I went with a scrounged piece of thin hat band leather from an old Bailey...

    Armi San Marco Walker Colt

Howdy!, I picked up a nice Armi San Marco Walker Colt. I tested the waters with a pair of 1851 Navy pistols and am now hooked on BP too. This one was made in 1980. Anyone have any experience with Armi San Marco? It seems fine in all respects, broke it all down and cleaned it in the ultrasonic...

    Are you using Pyrodex?

First Experience with Deer Stalker Flintlock

One more question. What to you think is the best way to polish the pan? The parts look cast. I'm thinking some fine emery paper wrapped around a dowel.

First Experience with Deer Stalker Flintlock

I found a neat way to light up the barrel with battery operated LED's. Put one in the open vent hole.
