2006 Midwest Primitive Rendezvous, Waverly, IA

I was just curious if anyone out there was planning on attending this event. I know I and many of my friends will be. For those of you who are interested or don't know, the event begins July 8th and lasts through the 16th. Thanks. A.W.Y.

The War that made America parts 1&2 a small review

Good point. I wonder how much they'll emphasize that the war was also an extension of a broader, worldwide conflict, something that even we reenactors sometimes forget?

The War that made America parts 1&2 a small review

My impression from the small blurp I read off of an e-mail forwarded to me was that, as the originator of this thread stated, there would be a pre-occupation with George Washington. That isn't very good history, but I digress . . . Would anyone happen to know if the mini-series addresses...

NMLRA Artillery Safety & Drill Course

Wow, thanks for passing all of that information along - I appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to attend and I'll be sure to look you up when I'm there, Ed. Thanks again. :hatsoff:

NMLRA Artillery Safety & Drill Course

Well, perhaps this is the first time for this particular course but I know the NMLRA has had courses very similar to this in the past as two friends of mine, Father Thomas and Sgt. Landeau of Fort Bon Secours, have attended in the past. I'm slowly getting into F&I myself. I hope to see you...

NMLRA Artillery Safety & Drill Course

Ah, neat, all the more reason for me to get off my arse and sign up, eh? May I assume that you're a CW reenactor from the emoticon you used in your last post?

Midwest National Primitive Rendezvous in Ontonagon

Hey, it's good to hear from a Yooper on here! I'm sincerely glad that the U.P. is part of the Midwest region now and I hope that the MPR will return to the area at some point. From what I here 2009 would probably be the earliest year for that to happen but it will be here before we know it...

    "Campfire Cooking" with Johnny Nix

Ok, big correction here. After actually researching my topic I discovered the real name of the show is "Campfire Cafe" (I've been calling it by the wrong name for quite a while then) and RFDTV is evidently available via both DishNetwork and DirecTV as well as Mediacom and other local forms of...

    "Campfire Cooking" with Johnny Nix

Well, Campfire Cooking and RFDTV are obtained via satellite I believe, perhaps even only on DishNetwork, but I'm not entirely sure about that. They're a relatively young network geared toward country, farm, and rural living and have quite a few programs that most muzzleloaders, in general of...

Midwest National Primitive Rendezvous in Ontonagon

Yeah, there were a few days there where it was really hot, all time highs I believe, but the rest of the time the weather was very nice. As you said, I was glad to be a part of it as well.

NMLRA Artillery Safety & Drill Course

Ah, good, thanks, I'll definitely need that one. Does this mean you're interested in attending?

    "Campfire Cooking" with Johnny Nix

Yes, he has some great advice and it's always fun to watch and listen to his unique accent. As for when exactly it's on, I'm like you, I only catch him when I'm able to so I'm not sure. Perhaps RFDTV has a website? I'll have to look for that sometime . . .

NMLRA Artillery Safety & Drill Course

Yes, you're right, that does cover materials and such, although I'm not sure about the powder and such - I don't know either way. I'm a self-admitted newbie to cannons and the like as I've only been firing them for a little over a year so I'm sure there's someone here that knows more about this...

Pics of the NRLHF Student Association at the MPR

Here are some more pictures of our members, from touring a schooner, to tavern-wenching, to attempting to instruct children how to fence properly.

    "Campfire Cooking" with Johnny Nix

Does anyone here by any chance watch "Campfire Cooking" by Johnny Nix on RFDTV? I've found that it's an interesting and humorous show and without it our camp's desserts wouldn't have been nearly as good at the latest Rendezvous.

NMLRA Artillery Safety & Drill Course

Yes, I believe it's something like $120.00 for non-NMLRA members and $85.00 for NMLRA members. The non-member fee includes a membership and everything that entails. It seems sort of pricey but I think it might be worth it - or at least I hope so.

Pics of the NRLHF Student Association at the MPR

Thanks! :hatsoff: Yes, the site was great as was the weather . . . most of the time. There was this little hail storm thing, but oh well . . .

Pics of the NRLHF Student Association at the MPR

These are pics of Kenna and I's NRLHF Student Association, the first of is kind, at this year's Midwest Primitive Rendezvous in Ontonagon, Michigan. This is the first year we've had a presence at a national rendezvous.

Midwest National Primitive Rendezvous in Ontonagon

I recently returned from the Midwest National Primitive Rendezvous in Ontonagon, Michigan and enjoyed the event very much. Did anyone else attend this event and, if so, what did you think of it?

    Last Of The Mohicans (1936)

This is a link to the Internet Movie Database's information on The Last of the Mohicans: http://www.imdb.com/find?q=The%20Last%20of%20the%20Mohicans;s=all . It lists both versions being discussed here as well as all the rest and may even provide links to sites where these versions can be purchased.
