    T C Patriot

As a simple alternate that I have used on this type of problem, try this. Heat the area of the lock the screw goes into with a soldering gun. then take a small punch and tap with light hammer blows to the head of the screw at an oblique angle. Turning the screw in the counterclockwise...

A question for the 36 caliber shooters

Yes, give them a try. As a good test use a large piece of your patching material and pop one of the balls into the rifling and then pull it back out. If it has the imprint of the fabric in the ball it will probably work. Barry

SOLD AMR Patriot percussion pistol in .45 New

I believe it would be in good taste to change your headline to reflect that this is a copy of a Thompson Center Patriot not an actual TC Patriot. No disrespect intended. Barry

A question for the 36 caliber shooters

Lyman used to make .345 molds. You might find one from flea bay. I use one on an old Numrich ".36" barrel. I believe they were made from 357 barrel blanks and then rifled. They were undersized from standard 36 barrels. It may be what you have. Barry

    What do I have here?

Those are Yazel pistols. I shot the ones I had in NMLRA matches. I had 32, 40 and 45. I liked the 32 best. I will attach a picture. Barry '

Hello to my fellow Black Powder enthusiasts!

OK, that is the shorter barrel length. There were some variations available. The one that did not have the adjustable rear sight was popular with some of the cowboy action shooters. I think I remember one of the early models that had a square back trigger guard. Use it and enjoy it! Barry

SOLD Pre-Dixie Gunworks - Turner Kirkland flintlock 45 cal $500 Shipped price

Notchy Bob, You are exactly right. I bought one of those from Turner in the Mid 60's. It was a percussion lock, patent breech, 45 cal. The rifling was very shallow and worked great with a 445 RB .010 linen patch and 45 gr. 3f powder. That rifle won all kinds of manure in the matches. I...

For Sale - Parts Billingshurst Action from Casting Set with BRC Barrel $650 + Shipping

That is just a matter of the cone of the nipple size and the cap size. The cones of nipples do vary in size but not very much. I use bench rest nipples with a long threaded shank. My barrel is 1 1/4" across the flats and 20" long on that one. I buy nipples from Log Cabin for that purpose...

For Sale - Parts Billingshurst Action from Casting Set with BRC Barrel $650 + Shipping

I used one of these kit actions to build a buggy rifle about 25 years ago. That is one I kept and is still my fun gun to shoot. It is a great action and can be tuned to a very light pull on the trigger. Barry

To me that barrel looks to be about an inch shorter than "normal".

Progressively rifled barrel for Enfield 1853/58

Go with what Dave said. I use a Hodgdon Mini and cast my own. They are designed with a thin skirt for using light target powder charges. Very accurate. For those of you who are not familiar with NSSA matches they are shot in two phases. The first phase is the individual matches using...

Progressively rifled barrel for Enfield 1853/58

I have an original 1853 Enfield with a Whitacre replacement barrel. I use in NSSA matches. It is extremely accurate with 40 gr. Swiss 3fg and a 420 gr. Minnie. Barry

Question/Survey about setting up a "Small Game" Shoot

That sounds like a great project, allow any caliber for the match. Definitely use NMLRA scoring rules that is using the center of the hole to determine the score. Also, why not have a couple of side matches for sub .40 cal rifles, that also might lead somewhere. Barry
