    coon fat for tallow?

I've rendered beaver fat. It doesn't store well. I have commercial mink oil. It hasn't gone rancid or cloudy after 8 years. Mink Oil was used in cosmetics for decades

Looking for Someone to Re-Bore a Barrel

Good point. Best to send the whole gun. As I'm in Canada the import/export of gun parts is very difficult (thanks to the idiotic liberal govn't), but I can still ship a flinter without any paperwork.

Looking for Someone to Re-Bore a Barrel

I bought .36 flinter a few years ago off Gun Post. Its a nice enough gun, but very bulky and front heavy. I was thinking of getting it re-bored to a .50 or .54 - the barrel is wide enough to handle it. Who do you recommend that can rebore the barrel for me? Thanks - Scott

Based on the hammer its the only way the lock could work

Mystery flintlock - need some advice.

As per my previous post, please see some better pics. Please notice the offset between the lock and the frizzen - and oversized flint is the only way for this to make a spark. By best guess is that the hammer has been replaced. What is the make and model of this lock? If I know that I can...

Mystery flintlock - need some advice.

I bought as-is from someone who doesn't shoot black powder. I'll take a few more pics

Mystery flintlock - need some advice.

Will this help? Notice the center of the jaws and the frizzen. It doesn't line up.

Mystery flintlock - need some advice.

I got this gun off the internet for a very fair price. Overall everything fits snuggly and it has little wear. The barrel is 39” long and held in place by small screws through oversized thimbles (they are ½” dia. so my guess is these are off a musket). The lock seems oversized for the gun and...

    Packaging and shipping a flintlock

I am working with a seller to ship a Kentucky rifle and he's having trouble figuring out how to ship it. I suggested a Sonotube, but locally he can't find any long enough. What are other options for pre-existing packaging that he could use that is easy and will protect the gun during shipping?

    Spring Barley decoying

Most farmers that get pigeons in their barns are very happy if you shoot them. I use my 20 ga Poor Boy, but with no choke the shots have to be close. After a few shots the pigeons vacate the area and won't return for a few hours. If you hunt the same farm day over day they can figure out that...

Turkey Hunting Successes and Pics Please

Wild turkeys can see movement from over 200 yards and will react to it (ie. gone!). Hunting turkey and turkey calling is about patience, nuisance and skill. I know turkey hunters that spent weeks trying to call in a trophy and were never able to make the shot. Here bagging a large Tom is...
