    "Urban" Deer Hunt Freak Out

Based on what he said, I feel he’s probably kept in pent up feelings about me killing his “pets” all these years by bow. It’s the kind of person who thinks a wild animal traveling through residential properties is somehow different than one in a state forest a mile down the road. This is the...

    "Urban" Deer Hunt Freak Out

I wasn't about to go over there the way he acted, even if his wife initially said OK. I took his follow up call as a no. I could have called the DNR to come insist I get to look for it, but this is also my wife's family. And what I felt most sick about, other than his actions, was that this all...

    "Urban" Deer Hunt Freak Out

Yes. During the first call he yelled "God-D#mmit! I take my grandaughter for walks on the park land right next to you! What if she was there and you didn't know? You could have killed her!" This is during the Summer mind you that he takes her for walks. I guess I didn't think they would be doing...

    "Urban" Deer Hunt Freak Out

BTW, the guy also accused me of wounding deer and being a bad shot. Oh, I got it I told him. I dont think so he told me if it ran more than 100 yards into our woods. It's wounded. Ok, then.

    "Urban" Deer Hunt Freak Out

I want to start by saying these boards have been awesome in helping a newbie learn how to shoot and hunt with my .54 caliber Hawken style Cabela's (Investarms) percussion gun. I hunted a special state park hunt for does only and would have had one if I only has remembered to pull the hammer all...

    Unloading a Rifle

Also, I did see a bunch of deer last night skirting our woods so plenty of time as our ML season ends Dec. 9 and bow season on Dec. 15. I've only really bow hunted the past 15 years and so this new ML thing has my blood pumping especially after a missed opportunity due to operator error like that.

    Unloading a Rifle

Thanks all! Gonna have to try the rubber cap ideas. This weekend, I put a wadded up piece of orange flagging tape in between the lowered hammer and nipple. I also put a piece of scotch tape over the muzzle. Hunt is over. Sat all day Saturday and saw three does running at about 75 yards through...

    whiskeys

The Kirkland brand gets good reviews online. I have not tried myself but like their pre-cooked bacon slices which can also be purchased at Costco. :) I like Buffalo Trace to mix. To drink straight, I prefer the simple 10 year Glenmoranjie scotch. It's a lot lighter and crisper than most dark...

    Unloading a Rifle

Thanks! And may ha e to get a “real” gun eventually. Lol. I have a blind set up on top of a saddle in a ground blind with heavy trails along both hills. I e thought about bringing my buddy heater but maybe not encouraged with black powder. Still, do long as I keep the gun away from it.

    Unloading a Rifle

I may do some split day hunts vs sitting all day. Do I don’t want to have to fire twice a day if nothing presents itself.

Thanks all! So I take it you are saying slowly lower the hammer all the way down with paper towel in between?

    Unloading a Rifle

Hello! New member and new to muzzleloading. I've been practicing with my .54 caliber Cabela's (Investarms) Hawken style percussion gun. I shoot patched roundballs and target practice has been going well. Going on a special State Park hunt tomorrow and Sunday where I can take up to two does. My...
