What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I started out to make a few shots since recovering from shoulder repair. Made first shot with my .38 Flinter. Started to load for second shot and felt my rear sight move in my hand, dang!, had to shoot then, go in the shop to find it could not be tightened up. So, but one thing to do, build a...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Went to "Sportsmen With A Cause" annual Foster Child and Disabled Deer Hunt. I set up and the kids shot a couple of my Flinter"s at some novelty type targets. They seem to have enjoyed it. First time for some of them to ever shoot any kind or rifle.

Had our club shoot Saturday, had 14 shooters and some really great competition and fellowship. 50 yards offhand, 2 bull Buffalo cut into singles (yes we are a penny pinching bunch). Anyway, it was a great day and just enough wind to wait at times keeping the smoke clear and the temp was...

Poll: What do you use your muzzleloader for?

Therapy, paper, steel, golf balls, hunting, useless critters if needed, New Years Eve, Christmas, anything that urges me to make smoke and smell the sulfur and feel the bump and see the smoke. I just enjoy the total experience, even the cleaning.

Is this a Southern Mountain rifle

The Butt Plate and Trigger Guard resemble a "Jamestown". But, the full stock and no inlays anywhere say "No". Definitely looks like a Carolina style to me. Either way it is a good looking gun and should be a shooter, most of them are.

    Round Ball Shooters...........

.40 Cal. 65 Yards, I use a .395 ball, 65Gr. 3 FFF and be very careful to make a neck shot. Most go down within 3 steps. Many more after that first one in 1989. I like to drive up with the tractor and pick them up. Makes it a bit easier.
