Will do, Hank and thank you for the offer! I have not checked emails, as I am up to my neck in spring work and not as fast as I was! Will be in touch soon though and thank you again, Richard.

    Wheellock Project

Hank, I have never gone into how strips of bone were aooarently "bent" into curves like wire can be. Maybe soaking in vinegar..... At an opportune time, I would appreciate a brief explanation of such work! On my own work, l have used inlays of orgnic and geometric form, but kept to wire for...

    Landsknecht Arquebus and Petronel

Horn tips on rammers should last as long as anything if well fitted. I have originsls that still work. And home mades that work. Antler is tougher if you are making early style, but white doesn't always look right in all cases.

    Wheellock Project

Very bonny work, Hank! What material is the inlay? It looks like bone, but wonder if horn? Easier to bend horn than bone!

OLD original barrels - what to build?

Dale Apologies, I got my wires crossed! It would be fantastic to see a similar barrel stocked up in its original state. But apart from that its just a case of deciding how you think you will like it best!

OLD original barrels - what to build?

None of my business, But l still think this spiralled barrel is too early for a miquelet lock. Touch hole is on the top at presemt. It'll take some serious altering. All the best, R.

    Landsknecht Arquebus and Petronel

Very nice work, Brian. It looks very period correct with enough patina to look original. Lovely job!

    The Scottish Dirk

Bob, Yes, a highlander with these arms was like a cat. armed all the way 'round! The dirk was held point down in the targe hand, for stabbing whilst the stabbing hand and arm was protected by the targe. Yes also Bob on the use of the targe. It would be sad to be weighted down with something...

    The Scottish Dirk

Bob, It looks in the above like I spelled targe about 16 different ways! Lol!

    The Scottish Dirk

Bob, The dirk for Government troops were purpose made as such, but at one time, nearly every Highlander had a dirk as it was required for all to be armed for troubled times. Even poor highlanders had them. As the hilt was made of wood, we do see many somewhat rustic examples, but often carved...

    The Scottish Dirk

Am sure you are right, Bob! Have only made a couple myself. Carried one as my second shof when hunting with flint. Gave it to daughter later for when woods walking.

    Traditional M/L Guns from India

Rick Lovely gun! The trigger placement on Jason's Gun feels real crippled to me! I can't think what possessed anyone to place it like they did!

    De Witt Bailey

I am very sorry to read this, even though somewhat expected as DeWitt has not enjoyed good health for some time. He will be very hard to replace, but as Rudyard says, we pin much on our friend Adrian R!

    Traditional M/L Guns from India

Rick, The Sindh gun is a smooth bore. If I remember right, about .45 cal. I enjoyed our visit when you were up here Rick! Now retired, it may be a while before we see you!

    Traditional M/L Guns from India

Well Cyten, You found me! We hold this shoot here on the farm each year, from I think 2006. There are YouTubes available for a good few years. Rob does a very good job. The gun Martyn was firing (Mary Rose style) was made by our very own Rudyard. Jason's Sindh is a nice one.

    Traditional M/L Guns from India

Definitely from India, and a very nice piece, MrT! Will have to look at a book to get a idea of area, but either from the Deccan or up in Rajasthan I would Guess. (Guess being the operative term!) Congratulations, Very Nice!

Is there another source to access Michael Tromner's resources?

I always wanted to put all Michale's threads into one dictionary so to speak, but Michael didn't help when he swamped us with photos! Was is 47,000 photos he took?
