    Unmentionables

I didn't realise that the site appears to be a commercial entity: one posting says that the "owner" Claude SOLD the site to the current owner, who also owns several other fora --- Latin plural of "forum" ;-). If so, that explains the plethora of Rules and Regs, which encourage people to join...

    Unmentionables

It seems as if many of the "antis" are almost as old as their bundhooks ;-) That is why this aspect of shooting is fading away -- along with the meetings where a tiny number of hard-nosed "traditionalists" rule the roost -- but I bet many of them wear modern underclothes under their buckskins...

    Shotgun came already loaded.

Who are "we" ??? Some form of Royalty? Still doesn't make sense! Words might be one thing, but BANG! is also a word.... ....

    Shotgun came already loaded.

Even so !!!! NEVER put anything away without ensuring that the bore is clear right down to the "chamber".

    Shotgun came already loaded.

I really CANNOT undestand why anyone would just fire something when they didn't know WHAT was in the barrel. Goodbye, dear fingers ?

Original Colt 1860 army...Barrel marking Colt New York city?

    Bizarre looking target percussion pistol

My flaky memory seens to recall a company in the USA who were making saw-handle target pistols of very high quality, back in the '60s or '70s. I think that they also made some based on a M1911 - again, time flies so I could be tapping absolute twaddle on the keyboard ;-)

    Finest quality percussion revolvers?

Lou Imperato was a VERY good businessman -- - he managed to get so many people to believe that the revolvers were MANUFACTURED in the USA -- - when they were actually "fettled" from Italian parts ;-)

    Hello from Oxford

We have a website --- www.mlagb-surrey.org.uk The "webmaster" (George) does an excellent job -- but like SO many organisations, he does too much and needs help from the members ;-(

    Hello from Oxford

Hi! Are you a member of the Surrey Branch of the MLAGB -- the most active one, as far as I can see ? If not I will put you in touch with us.

    Huge Rifle

There were double-barrelled punt guns, arranged so that as the floating ducks which hadn't been slaughtered took off from the water and then they were caught on the wing. Colonel Hawker refers to punt gunning in "Instructions to Young Sportsmen" (1833)- he has sections in various parts of this...

Yes - but they are stilll in business, not like many gun-related businesses !

    Finest quality percussion revolvers?

Lou Imperato imported unfinished Italian parts and "tarted them up". As for HEGE, the originals were beautifully made but costly (reasonably so) but the current offerrings are val Trompia clones and not in the same league, although they are priced high --- so that people will think that they...

    Chain fire!!

Apart from the nipples being too long, another possibility is that the cylinder arbor is too short -- - allowing the cylinder to sledge back.

    Chain fire!!

Hopw could a flame get past a properly fitting ball -- i.e., one where on loading a thin ring of lead is sheared off? That means that the powder CANNOT be reached from the FRONT - past the hermetic seal.

    Chain fire!!

How do you KNOW that, please ?

    Pietta Vs Centaur

I bought a "Centaure" M1860 in 1963 from Robert's gunshop in St. Martin's Lane, just a stone throw from Trafalgar Square, (London). I was going to College and had a Metropolitan Police "Firearm Certificate" for the revolver as a Collectors' item. Beautifully made, and with parts...

    Pedersoli Indian Trade Musket questions

This is not a NEW idea --- many "trade guns" were painted --- obviousy made down to a price. In some cases they even painted fake (now called "faux" by the trendies!) "stub twist" on the barrels and as for the butts - YUK!!!!! This was continued well into the 20th Century -- and many of...

    Dont judge me...

"Supposedly" ? Is this not the same as believing that what is in movies is the TRUTH ?

    Dont judge me...

How do you know that it is an "original blanket gun" ?
