What would you consider reasonable accuracy?

Offhand with a 1 hand grip? If your able to shoot 2-3" 5 shot groups at 10 yards your doing really well Imo. That's about what I can do with my percussion guns. Off a rest is something different imo, as your now takeing the human element mostly out of it. Only thing it's good for is figuring...

    Pyrodex

Yup, with my home cast 200 grain conicals, I cram 40gr in there under a lubed boolit, might be able to fit another grain or 2 even. Groups as well as my modern pistols and really puts on a smoke show. Round ball's are 35 max as they seem to lose accuracy at higher velocity. 30gr with a .454...

    Pyrodex

I use pyrodex P. My pietta 58 remington NMA seems to love it, best load I found sofar is 35grains, shoots to point of aim.

Pietta 1860 Army Revolver Range Report

I've just bought a pietta '58 remington replica. I was very impressed by the quality, no rattles, no damage anywhere on the finish, good trigger, cylinder gap is thinner than some modern cartridge revolvers I've looked over. It's actually tight enough that the cylinder needs to be just so, for...

    Shorty Walker

I've been surprised at how many people talk about only fitting 35 grain in a 58 remington. You could probably stuff 40 in mine and still use a felt wad, with 35 of pyrodex P and a wad the ball can be seated to the max depth of the rammer.

    Pillow Ticking patches

I'm curious, what does burning them mean?

Can a stock be sanded too smooth?

On my rifle I wanted a very smooth shiny finish so I went down to 600 and then hit it with steel wool between coats of tung oil to knock down whiskers with a top coat of buffed wax. On my pistol I just did 220, and finished it with a coat of stain, coats of tung oil and then paste wax. It's much...

    BP vs Black MZ

As far as I know the $10 price was at sportsmans warehouse Iirc only. I'm going to be heading by one here this next weekend and I was planning on picking up a lb or 2 for my caplocks.

    Grease Hole Filling?

Huh this has been a interesting thread. I never considered having the lube itself in the patchbox. Makes me wonder about all the uses people had for the patchbox/cap box. I've seen references online to people putting tools and spare parts in there, patches and now the lube itself.

    BP vs Black MZ

Here in WA state our old explosives law says 5 lbs max at home before you need approved magazine. I can imagine that wasn't much of an issue for most shooters when you could buy the stuff in person. Complicates buying BP and having it shipped because you can only get it shipped in 4 or 5lb...

    BP vs Black MZ

Nice to dream but it seems like the market is just too small, just like how nearly all sporting goods stores/gun stores don't stock real powder for various reasons. Not enough demand to make it viable it seems.

    BP vs Black MZ

Too bad it's being discontinued as it seemed to be a decent powder and at the $10/lb price point you can do a lot of shooting for a little bit of money.
