    The Art of Patches.

An excellent read. Step by step process to success. Rest in peace Dutch.

Sighting in from bench for off-hand shooting

My philosophy also. If the hardware is tuned well, then any problems fall on the shooter.

    Wasp Nest

I bet a call to a local "Pest Control" person might produce some good leads to wasp and hornet nests

    SxS round ball shooting

With my inside caliper, the bore on my 32 year old Pedersoli measures .73 just ahead of the choke (2-1/4 inch back from the muzzle). Both barrels measure .70 (Full Choke) at the muzzle.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

Not a cut, under a magnifying glass it looks more like a clamp of some type creased the steel at that point. Thanks for the question and observation. Good eye there Sir.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

I was hoping to learn from anyone who had experienced this barrel bulge issue and how they had handled it. I gained knowledge about Jug chokes and two methods they have been done. Most importantly I had my faith in my fellow muzzleloading enthusiasts reinforced on multiple occaisions. Several...

    Pedersoli Classic Shotgun Lock Issues

I am working on the same issue with mine. My Classic acts up if I get the Bridle screws not "just right" (on the Left side lock only) sometimes does not catch at full cock, sometimes will fire from half cock.. I am trying to figure out some reliable method of getting that sweet spot locked in .

    Pedersoli Classic Shotgun Lock Issues

Also I have no idea how many times this firearm has changed owners.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered myself a set. With my old set of Vernier Calipers the left barrel measures .695 ID at the muzzle, the right barrel is .698 ID which even allowing for operator error of 2% +/- means both barrels are still mighty close to Full Choke. what say you? MGA, no Idea...

Over the counter Muzzleloader Deer tags for Non residents?

Your neighboring state of Idaho, has first come first served on Non Resident tags in most areas. For ML. hunting, one would have to buy the License, species specific tag and ML endorsement. 1/4th of the state is public land (12,000,000 acres of public land.). If you are a Bear hunter, some...

I am of a mind to go shooting. As soon as I get it back from the Gunsmith.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

I contacted them and have posted their response which was basically "if it is in good condition dont worry about the bulges, just shoot it.". Now I wait for my Gunsmith's evaluation. Then off to check how it patterns.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

Yes there is a noticeable bulge inside the barrel that corresponds with the bulge on the exterior.

Pedersoli Classic with both barrels bulged.

True story. Going in, the barrel in its full length offered only modicum resistance. On extraction, that changed as the patch did it's job and "gathered" on the upper edge of the jag. Upon reaching the swelled section that comfortable resistance dropped to zero and in the last couple inches...
