Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
i built this gun about 2 months ago. it is stunning cherry. the metal is lightly fire blued. the lock was completely disassembled before the fire blue. the metal was greyed after. the stock was colored with LMF maple then nut brown then 3 coats of chambers followed by a 16-century recipe of...
my first thoughts were sights sun and glare. it will affect you every time. even at 50yds it makes a difference, but much more of a difference at longer yardage,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
i live in the lowcountry of SC, born here 66 years ago. we have 100% humidity and 100 degrees in the summer, and every bit as bad as Florida. rem-oil in the bore and on the gun is all you need,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
the doe i shot at 93 yds ran about 60yds and not the first drop of blood, it left holes almost like the one above. i have killed several with the 54 and little blood trails, i shot an 8 point last year with my SMR 45 at 85yds and blood was all over the ground where he stood. he made it about...

i think the price is more than fair! by the time you get the kit with ex fancy maple you will have 1,600 in it. then you take at 2 weeks, more like 3 to finish it. then you have 100 bucks in shipping and insurance, not to mention materials used and hauling it to the shipper! yea more than fair!
on the stock i used real tung oil from the "real milk paint CO." found online. the stuff that is called tung oil from the hardware store is not! i put coats on, wipe off the excess and let it dry. then do it again about 3-4 times. then let it dry for a week, then put about 3 coats of chambers...
