    .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????

Here is an experiment I did shooting water jugs with a .36 conical bullets. I was surprised by the penetration. On another note, an acquaintance of mine was shot by a .36 revolver during a reenactment in Mississippi many years ago. The ball passed through his privates, blew out one tesitcle...

How to use a Colt Walker flask?

The originals were such a failure that they gave up and went to paper cartridges. They would gum up and seldom threw a consistent charge.

Some Eye Candy : Cimarron 1860 "McCulloch Colt" Anyone Else?

I have two Fluted Cylinder Colts. One is an Uberti and the other is a Centennial Belgian made version. Unfortunately, Uberti makes theirs with a standard 8 inch barrel. For the most part, original early fluted M1860s had a 7.5 inch barrel. Centennial produced theirs correctly with the 7.5...

    PayPal anti gun?

They do have a rep for anti gun, but I have used them for my mold business since 2017. Last year I had them question my business and threatened to shut me down unless I proved I was not selling guns or ammunition. Is sent them a description of my products and they gave me the green light. I...

My first Enfield or military style long Gun

It appears to be lined. It should be an excellent shooter with the right bullet/charge combination. I will be surprised if you get a clear answer from Chiappa.

My first Enfield or military style long Gun

Those are great guns. They are made by Chiappa (Army-Sport) and imported by Chattahooche Arms mainly for the NSSA crowd. He imported both the three band and two band versions. All of the originals were made as three bands. Chattahooche piggy backed on the Colt Signature Series version of...

    Bison Powder Horn

I started one also but gave it up. When I trimmed the end for the plug, It had too much curve to be useful as a powder horn. Here is an article about a Buffalo Powder horn that was carried at the Battle of New Orleans...

    Another Cherry Colonial

I'm very pleased with results on my new Kibler Colonial with a cherry stock. I built several rifles and fowlers years ago with pre-shaped stocks, where I had to inlet everything except the barrel. Now I'm spoiled that I didn't have to do any inletting to put this rifle together. This is also...

    Tried and True Oil Finish

I'm about to finish a Kibler Colonial with a cherry stock. I bought an 8oz bottle of Tried and True Original Wood Finish and was surprised to see how thick it is. I was expecting a lighter oil, similar or slightly thicker than Trueoil. This is very thick and heavier, about like honey. I...

    Need help identifying Charleville

My best guess, based on what I can see in the photos is that it is a Miroku Japanese made M1766 that has been defarbed for reenacting. The US surcharge and butt plate markings have been added. I have one that has been remarked as a US Model 1798 contract musket. These were imported by Navy...

    .36 Question

The US Army service load was 17 grains of powder and a .380 diameter 126 grain conical bullet. When I shoot round balls, I use a .380 ball and 20 grains of powder.

    1863 Springfield: Real or Replica

I think it is a parts gun using a reproduction barrel and original lock and furniture. The bands are from a Model 1861. The bolster shape and rifling are hints that the barrel is a reproduction. Very nice rifle musket otherwise.

what size ball to use (exactly)

Most of the time I shoot my own brand of conicals, but for Roundball, I shoot .454 in everything except my Charlie Hahn accurized Remington. It likes 460. Pieta chambers are generally a few thousand smaller than Ubertis, that is why they recommend 451. Uberti recommends 454.
