    FFFg in 50 Cal Hawkin?

Is it ok to shoot FFFg in a 50 cal? I typically shoot FFg but am about out and a local shop has a couple jugs of FFF? Curious if it is too fine and increases pressures or if it can be loaded like FFg? Thanks.

Favorite Load for your TC Hawken .50 Cal

Been working to find the most accurate load in my TC Haken. Have always shot decent groups ~2"-3" @ 50 yards but lately have been on a mission to shrink that down. My rifle has always shot better 'dirty' with TC pre lubed patches and .490 RB's. I remember Dutch saying that my patches were too...

    Favorite Target for Load Development

I know, I know, a big buck is all our favorite target but........until then I need to do some load development. Wondering what is everyone's favorite target for precise aiming? A 2" Diamond set like a snow cone on top of the front sight bead seems to be best for me. Although a circular target...

    Chronographs and muzzleloaders

How far do you set your chronograph from the muzzle of you muzzleloader to get a reading from just the ball and not the patch or other stuff flying in that direction? Is there a way to correct for the loss of speed from he muzzle to the chronograph? Thanks.

Need a new shooting bag - Recommendations?

Looking for a new shooting bag. Would like to keep it a shoulder strap type. Leather, pocket or two inside. Big enough to hold my CVA Powder Flask, couple dozen balls, short starter (outside loop prefered) and a few implements to clean as necessary. Need to be able to carry enough stuff to...

    Basic Q & A........

So I've been doing this for a while now (20+ years) although no buckskinner I've launched a few hundred roundballs down range. I have mostly used Pyrodex RS (some Goex 2F -hard to get), mostly .490 Speer round balls, patched with .015 precut patches (sometime pre-lubed, sometimes self-lubed with...

    Hello from Southern Idaho

Been shooting off and on for 20 or so years with a T/C Hawkin. Just recently dusted it off and shot some Jackrabbits. Had forgotten just how much fun shooting the it was. Will not let it sit for so long this time! Hoping this site can teach this old dog some new tricks.
