    squirrel rifle

Wish I had bigger squirrels here in Montana. The only ones I’ve seen that are close to eating size are in the city park, right next to the Sheriff’s office. I’d use a .32 if I hunted them.

Hand Mortars - Late Production Examples?

Well this is just great! Another thing I gotta have, a hand mortar. Well, I guess if I just eat soft food I won’t need that denture re-line I planned. After all, what’s more important, chewing or a new smoke pole? I can alway have the cuisinart do the chewing. I also saw this pole cannon...

If you buy the Pedersoli 20 gauge sxs you can interchange barrels.

Sausage or chipped beef gravy? (Both are great!)

    traditions trapper?

I have the Traditions Trapper in both percussion and flint. Great pistols, good balance, very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. I also just acquired the Lyman Plains pistol in 54 cal. Haven’t shot it much. If you’re looking for either at a good price I believe muzzle-loaders.com has both in...

    Thoughts on SPAM "meat"

I saw the photo of the boxes labeled as “boneless pork rectums inverted”. The “boneless” is confusing! I do like tripe, but that is as close as I want to get to rectums! Spam is a great camp food. My daughter used to take it with her as a smoke jumper. I prefer the low sodium stuff. The...

How Do "You" keep track of and safeguard your guns?

Yes, but then you have a mess to clean up, and then there’s the smell. Have you tried rock salt?

    Cannon from a post Pounder

How about a pig cannon? EDIT I deleted the link given in this topic because it is exactly what the forum rules stated was not allowed to be posted here. Here is what the rule says: Discussions about Traditional muzzleloading cannons. No breech-loaders, pipes with end caps, PVC, or "potato...

    Cannon from a post Pounder

As a dumb kid I made a cannon out of 3/4” galvanized pipe, and shot ball bearings with 2” firecrackers. I’m a little smarter now, and have switched to smokepoles. I can’t imagine an adult thinking a post driver cannon is a good idea.

Getting Cleaning Jag stuck in my barrel...

I have a Traditions Crocket .32, and I have gotten the jag stuck a time or two. I resorted to running a patch most of the way, then switching to a slotted jag to finish. Maybe I’ll try tapering the end of the jag. Thanks for all theideas guys.

That’s the nice thing about opinions...they’re like rectums, everybody has one.

    Thoughts on SPAM "meat"

I’m sorry, but the 1st amendment protects unpopular speech. Yes, you have to accept the consequences of your speech, but there is nothing in the bill of rights regarding a right not to be offended. Differing views promote discourse. Free speech and free thought go hand in hand. As they say...

    Thoughts on SPAM "meat"

Wow! The topic was SPAM. Now we’re into hurt feelings. I suppose no one watches the news, because someone’s feelings would certainly be hurt. What ever happened to “stick and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”? We have raised a generation that seems to be offended by...

For lips and snouts there’s headcheese! Yum. We need more people to eat it so my grocery store will carry it again!

SOLD 32 caliber Bedford style Flintlock

If you’re going back to Alaska you should keep that .32 for shooting mosquitoes. They’re the state bird up there! I suppose you could load the .62 smoothbore with shot. Good luck!

    Thoughts on SPAM "meat"

spam doesn’t have as much gelatin as it used too. If you wanted gelatin, those canned chickens had them all beat. But my favorite was headcheese, with mustard and onion - what a sandwich! The deli doesn’t carry it anymore because not many people eat headcheese. Sad

New to cap & ball revolvers

I believe .457 are for the Ruger Army, not the 1858 Remington. Here is a photo of an original and a Pietta. My dad bought the original as a kid in the ‘30s for $2.50 which was a small fortune back then.

    How about some Horseradish?

I planted it in a raised bed. The roots spread throughout the entire bed. I had to pull all the roots to get rid of it.
