An in depth response, thank you. I am shooting a .54 cal. Lyman Deerstalker. Bore dia. is .542, groove dia. is .558. Using a .535 ball with a .012 linen patch. Lube is a mix of 75/25 bees wax and canola oil. Performance has been poor.

November 2019 shoot: X marks the spot

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry for the confusion. Years ago I started in cowboy shooting as the "The Piney Creek Kid", it got shortened by range officers just to "Piney" or "Piney Creek". I didn't realize I was setting the stage for confusion.

    Dragons Blood

Funny you should ask that. I finished it the same way I finish all my stocks. Sanding and whiskering through 320 grit. Staining with an alcohol based dye of my friends choice. Deeply burnishing and finally over 50 coats of hand rubbed linseed oil. I am not sure whether comparing my finish...

    Dragons Blood

I restocked a rifle for a friend who then received an evaluation from an authority of importance who described the finish as a "Dragons Blood" finish. Is this a technique known to have particular value?
