    Santa Fe Hawken Kit Question

Mine was a little long for me but I shortend it , and it fits great now .They come with a little longer reach than most . I have only seen one for sale and it was so butchered up and uncleaned that it would only have made a crowbar. And thats's pretty sad for such a fine rifle. Slenk

    Santa Fe Hawken Kit Question

I put one together in the early 70s pretty easy to do . Everything fit good and all that was needed was to take a little wood off here and there , and finish . Bore on mine is marked as a .54 but mics out .53 and takes a .520 roundball . It is still a great shooter after 1000s of shots. You can...

Cabela's Blue Ridge and Pedersoli frontier rifle

Personally I don't think so . I am on other forum where they are talking of using .36cal. Most of the guys talk about head shots or mid body they say there is no meat there any way . Having owned both I would go with the .36 myself. Slenk

Cabela's Blue Ridge and Pedersoli frontier rifle

If you are going to be doing a lot of 100 yrd shooting I would not go smaller than the .36 and thats about stretching it to its max . .45 would be a little better .Smaller the calibar the more wind drift .
