Dixie Gun Works Japan rifle barrel's

Does anyone have any experience with the barrels from Japan used on some of the Dixie Gun Work's rifles? Are they pretty good shooters? Thanks!

    Thompson Center .45 Caliber Hawken

I definitely understand lol. The big hole is 1 1/4” OA. That’s 5 shots off sandbags @ 55 yds. I definitely like the rifle.

    Thompson Center .45 Caliber Hawken

I was able to get a mid 70's TC Hawken from a friend of mine that was no longer able to use it because of his declining health. Around 10 years ago this was actually the first muzzleloader I had ever shot. He had come over to my range and brought along this very rifle and let me shoot it. I knew...

What is about a Hawken Rifle

Thanks for the info! The trigger guard does look very much like the Sharon rifle guard. I’ve looked at a Dixie Gun and Track of the Wolf and could not find a trigger guard like mine. Maybe the gentleman just used whatever parts he had available for his project.

What is about a Hawken Rifle

I definitely love the way a Hawken feels when you shoulder one and the way they look. Like one gentleman said “ just something about them”. I bought a .54 caliber, 30” GMB, Siler lock with Davis double set triggers. I bought this gun from Deer Creek Guns here in Georgia a couple years back...

    My first flintlock

I have two 45 calibers. Seems they are my most accurate. Maybe it’s because I shoot them more and are more comfortable. I enjoy them both.

    My first flintlock

I was using 45 grains Goex fffg. .018” patch with a .440 hand poured ball.

Black Powder, Is there a shortage?

It truly is a shame that muzzle loaders are affected by this craziness. I enjoy shooting every chance I get and it definitely makes me limit my shots when I do get to shoot. My local muzzle loader store will get a shipment in, (powder and caps) and be gone in a day or so if you cannot get by to...

    My first flintlock

That’s exactly the reason I didn’t take another shot. I had just drifted my front sight just a bit and hit there so I stopped on a good note. Maybe I can stay close on my next range day.

    My first flintlock

That was from only 25 yds. I was filing and drifting my front sight a bit trying to walk my shots in. Haven’t got to shoot it as much as I wanted because of the weather. The last shot was the bulls eye. It may have been luck but that one was a good shot to end the day with.

    My first flintlock

I’ve been shooting caplocks for several years now and decided to jump into the flintlock rifles and get my feet wet. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a rifle from a good friend that had built this rifle. It’s a 45 caliber. Has 42” GMB, Siler lock and Davis triggers. I love the way...

SOLD .58 cal FIE Zouave Replica

I do believe it’s a 1/48 twist if memory serves me. It is a 3 land. I don’t know the depth of the grooves right off hand. I’ve always used Goex 2f with a Hornady.570 round ball with a .015” pillow tick patch.

How long does it take you to clean your rifle/smoothbore?

I agree 100%. I am a clean freak with my muzzle loaders. All my guns actually but my “smoke poles” get a little more attention.

SOLD .58 cal FIE Zouave Replica

This is a real nice Italian “Zouave” replica in 58 caliber. Clean bore that is free of any rust. Nice shooting muzzle loader. $375. Would rather have local pick up if possible. Thanks

    Hatfield 50 Percussion

Thanks for the link on the Hatfield. Do you know how long these rifles were produced and were all of the the barrels Green Mountain? I have a Pedersoli Frontier that feels much like this Hatfield but doesn't have the "hefty" feeling of the Hatfield. My Hatfield barrel has proof stamps underneath...
